Even the lever switches are junk but they do last longer than the pressure switches.

Plug it and go mechanical. My buddy noticed that there was a lag between applying the brakes and when the lights would illuminate

After replacing several hydraulic brake light switches failing because I used silicone brake fluid I changed to a Harley, silicone compatible, switch and never had a problem again. That was about 10 years ago and never replaced another switch! The benefits of using silicone fluid are many and even better with the right hydraulic brake light switch.

I’m curious what the many benefits are?

  5. Update on my quest for a functioning hydraulic brake light switch: I bought two Harley-Davidson switches yesterday and installed one this morning. It works! So far, at least. For those of you who are stubborn like me and still want to use a hydraulic switch, the part number is 72023-51E. The package says "made in Italy," so depending on the whims of politics and tariffs, one may cost you about $42 tax included or a whole lot more real soon. I bought two, just in case.
If it goes out again, I'll post an update. Meanwhile, I've got to troubleshoot the next three issues I have with my wiring job. I got a mis-wired hazard light switch that blows the fuse when turned on, a rheostat for my dash lights that doesn't dim or turn off and parking lights that won't turn on. I'll figure it out. My special power is figuring out my screwups - eventually.
