I have a few old trucks that are pretty rough that I have collected over the years for parts. I am in the planning stages of a new house/shop and I would like to build a cool waterfall kinda deal, in the circle drive I have built in my head. I would like to see the inner workings. I told the warden that she could put flowers and seasonal things like pumpkins in the bed for the different seasons.

You guys built anything similar? Hambers are generally more creative than your average hot rodders.

    A few for inspiration.

If doing a waterfall, I like AD Chevy with the water coming out of the grille, makes it look like it’s running hot and the radiator is puking. Don’t care so much about water coming out the door window. A recirculating fountain pump would make it easy. Another idea would be something sticking in the grill, like something speared it going down the road, with water spewing around the spear.

If I do it, t will be with a 36 Ford pickup.
I know Aaron @Plowboy is the king of yard art, but I don't think he gets on much anymore.

Not really "yard" art nor as cool as the water features but this is hanging over my shop door.

Wow! That’s some fun stuff. A couple of those trucks looked like “fixer uppers” to me…
Not yard art here, but wilderness art… 84B04435-0653-4071-AF06-DFA3411CDEA0.jpeg

You mean leaving old cars and/or parts out on purpose and calling it art? I thought I was just being lazy, and not finding a place to store the stuff...

    Hello,

We have lived in many different houses over the years. It seems like the yards got smaller each time we moved to a larger house. We always had a yard for our son to play in all day and sometimes into the hot, warm summer nights. We opened the gates, got out his scooters and he was happy as a lark to go “scooting” around the yard sidewalk, out one gate and in the other to make a giant loop around the house property.

The latest soft skateboard wheels did not make much noise, any small pebbles or cracks in the cement sidewalks were rolled over with ease and we had a accident free kid rolling around to his heart’s content. He had no problems falling asleep at night.

But, the yards kept getting smaller by the time our granddaughter arrived and spent her critical years from 6 months to pre teen years with us 5 to 6 nights a week. Her playground was inside of our whole house and what yard we had was creative to say the least. If and when she wanted “dirt” play, there was a nice dirt area for her and us to dig away to make little forts for her play toys and little cars. But, our place was always a short trip to the sandy beaches of So Cal coastline.

The last antique birdhouse I made from 50 to 75 years old cedar/redwood siding from old Santa Ana homes destroyed for corporate buildings were sold at a local store. It was inexpensive due to the age of the wood. It was perfect for our small hobby of creating yard art. Mitered corners, rustic old paint, old galvanized nails and a clean installation. Also, they remained clean for the duration.

The birdhouses looked as if it would hold tons of birds, but we knew what they did inside and all around the outside. So, I made them look as if they could get inside, but they could not. Surprise to all those birdies…ha!

But for a central yard play area, it was the perfect size for our granddaughter’s little cars. Also, when she wanted a non destructible house for her little doll collection to hang around in the sun, it was there in our yard.

Obviously not as large as some midwestern properties, but it was easier to take care of then. Now, for us old folks, it is very low maintenance growth to maintain and enjoy walks around the garden areas for a low key, low water usage environment. YRMV

  14. Great job on your bird house art.^^^^ { JNAKI }^^^^^ I like building stuff like that, and then watching mother nature do her thing to it over time. I don't think of it as Art though. I just call it playing. 013.jpg 109.jpg 345.jpg 471.jpg 1181.jpg 2582.jpg 1715.jpg 432.jpg 1531.jpg 1653.jpg 131.jpg 316.jpg 394.jpg 395.jpg There's a bird house thread on here too. Check out everyone's stories, and add yours too. Thanks for all you share with us.

I made this from leftover parts. It has removable caster wheels, so that it can be moved for mowing. I call it, "The Future of Streetrods"

Lost Angel, the old Chevy truck in your post , that appears mostly buried, is the very first one of these that I did a few years ago. Its funny to see it show up in a post.
