Hi everyone. Just looking for some quick advice on what I need to do to wire my new Lucas headlights so I can get all 4 lights on. Right now I have the outside lights on when the low beams are on and the inside lights when the high beams are on. I only have two wires coming off my bulbs so I realize I have to do something with the third spot on the plug just not sure what.

Here is a rough sketch of what I am working with. I hope it makes sense.

So the 3 prong plug is on the outer light on each side two prong on the inner. I have the green wire of the light going to ground in each plug and currently I have the red wire off the bulb going to the lower plug on the 3 prong plug which I believe is low beams and then the non ground prong on the two prong plug. The third prong on the plug has a grey and black wire coming in black goes to the second plug on each side. I ***ume this is the high beam. I currently have nothing plugged into that.

Is there a way I can get the outer lights to stay on when I put the high beams on or just have all 4 lights on when the low beams are on. I don't want to screw up the factory wiring so if it's not possible without doing that I will just leave it as is.

This car will rarely get driven at night as we have super long days in the summer here so I am not worried about having high beams at this point.

    Thanks for any advise.

The three prong plug on outer light is for headlights that have both high beam and low beam.

The two prong plug on inner lights is to power a high beam bulb.

***uming you use the wiring in its current configuration, how many amps do those Lucas bulbs draw on low beam? and how many amps on high beam?

The original 1963 headlight switch is probably rated for less than 30 amps.

The bulbs are 45W so I don't think I am going to have any concerns with drawing too many amps.

Why not get a 3 pin socket for each inboard headlight and use headlamps with high and low beams there. Then you can wire all 4 low beams together and connect to one side of the dimmer switch. Connect the 4 high beams together then to the other side of the dimmer. Middle pin of dimmer is typically connected to the headlight switch.
