Hey Bob, yep life keeps getting in the way. getting old, health issues ............ Just glad to be alive and yes it was that close.
The 55 looks great! Hopefully I’ll get to see it up here at Famoso someday when the world opens up! I see that you are in Simi. We have a lot of family history there. What was commonly known as Simi Valley living when I was growing up involved my dad and uncles hanging out in the garage drinking beer and working on cars.......well mainly drinking beer. Lol Their group was unofficially known as the Simi Valley Wrecking Crew. Lol. Scott Talley. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Groucho, You remember Jeff and Jim Lirones? Steve Johnson? Well they were very good friends of mine for cruising and street racing. I had a primered 1963 post Nova that never lost a street race including the lil hillman tony noto and many others. I even beat bottle bobs vette. I went to jail when I beat that orange duster in Simi Valley that said they never lost a street reace. About 100 friends all went and watched that race in Simi Valley. (which I won) but the cops came and caught me. Still a very nice $700 race win. We all hung out at the BofA on Saturday nights to setup races. My Name is Mike Schmidt I also had many other hotrods and magazine cars. Do you remember me? We had little round Micky Mouse Club decals on our windshields
It's the same 63 post Nova that raced off Saticoy and Woodley when the car I was racing lost control and smashed into Steve Johnson parked motorcycle at the end of the race. Not sure if you remember that or knew about that one but a lot of us were scared someone was hurt or killed but all were OK and no inquires except for car and bike.
Your tenacity to stay with this build over so many years, and so many trials is commendable! It really is a beautiful '55 g***er! I love g***ers in general, but it's tough with so many Tri Five g***ers built to do one that stands out. I think you've accomplished that with yours!
Yes it runs, waiting for my fabricator to clear some room in his shop. The roll bar has to be moved back because at 5' 10" I don't fit.
So now that it runs all I'm waiting on is the fabricator and finish a few small things and I'm done. Or at least until I want to change something else.
I know it's been too long but I just got the all clear from my Cancer Dr. I'm 7 years Cancer free so I'm finally released. Now if I can fully recover from my Heart Attack I'll be doing great. But in all of this I didn't lose focus. I'm still going to finish this G***er soon. I thought about selling it a few times but couldn't. Has anybody else experienced a long recovery form a Heart Attack? In December it will be 4 years already. I get out of breathe so fast. What is up?
I have a pretty severe heart condition for the past 10 1/2 yrs, I do what I can when I can. I've also come to terms that I'll never be who I used to be, just make sure you have regular cardiovascular check ups. Wishing you the best of luck.
Thx Swade. Yes I have a good Cardiologist that saved my life when it happened. I take all my Meds. and go to all of my Appointments. I'm not taking any chances.
