They should be posted on SCTA site. But I have not looked there yet.

We had a death on the salt Sunday. Speed Demon went airborne around the 3 mile. Driver p***ed away. Please remember the friends and family of that crew.

So just an update.. we are on the way home now. We did our first test run on Saturday and the new cam is working better… finally we went faster. With the other bigger cam right about 108 mph it would hit a wall and drop out. Stopped shifting to 5th entirely. Nothing there.
This run I wanted to see how it pulled and it was pulling good. I did shift to 5th to see if we still pulled and it was. This run for us is a throw away for us. I can tell it will go hard now so I’m happy now. We did a gear swap and went back in line but the wind had different plans so we went back to the pits to save our canopy and my flag. Next morning we at pits and Alex Gambino and Kyle showed up to spread Gene Winfields ashes. His last wish was to go back to the salt. They put Genes ashes in a few cars parashoots and they asked me if I wanted that honor and I did not refuse. They put some ashes in the back of my car and I asked if they could put a little inside my car behind my seat. Gene was a friend and now he gets to ride in my car forever.
Anyways back to the salt. We went to the line because the car was ready from the day before. In line inside my car one car back I went to fire motor and warm it up a bit. Starter winding and flooded out. Ok get it a sec I thought…. Nothing in fact shortly after my starter just click and won’t turn. I figured I over heated trying to start and fried the solonoid. Click click I decide to get out of car and get the **** out of the line/way for the other cars. Take the hood off and I notice my intake linkage arms stiff and I. The open position. We are done so we head beck to pits and try to evaluate I notice my arms not tightened.. fix that now my fuel problem is fine. Keep in mind everything was fine the day before with no changes to this. I start to think maybe when that starter cools down it might turn. It actually did. So I get in car to test fire. Starter spins still flooded out a bit. So I stop get out and number one cylinder spits out a bunch of water.. what the actual ****. Drain water tank and check all plugs. I tried to spin motor again to try to clear any remains water out of cylinder. Click click. Nothing…. Wtf then my car proceeded to go into some wiring chaos of toggles lighting up working and not working seconds apart… I don’t know what the hell is going on… I sit and reflect and try to thing of the only change that was made to start this cycle of chaos… my car has never had a electrical issue at all… I can believe maybe I blew a head gasket the day before and even accept maybe the. carb linkage had loosened but all at once in the same moment I don’t know… my take is Gene did not want me to drive my car right then.. I think he was protecting me from something…
We divide to pack it up. While packing it up speed demon crashes right in front of there pit area and we are directly two rows back and one of my guys could see it crash……. Crazy turn of events…. My heart goes out to the Speed Demon team and Chris Raschke’s family.

Be safe on the way home. It wouldn't be right to break any records without your whole crew there with ya anyway.(Depietro) However he spells it? You will get that damn thing figured out. See you guys next year

So sorry to hear of the issues and of course the crash. Glad you are safe.
Whenever I hear of crazy electrics, I jump to ground issues. I'm amazed there aren't more electrical problems out on the salt.

Sometimes the best choice you can make is listening to the car. Car says no sometimes. Glad you’re safe.

My car definitely said nope. I’m curious to tear it apart and see what it’s all about if anything

My late buddy and starter on the short course for 30+ years, Bill Taylor started that phrase with rookie drivers, long ago. RIP my friend, you are missed. I just got home from Bonneville and miss our starting line quick chats!

Watching at 2:35 Pacific time there are no cars in line to run and I can't tell if any are getting ready to make another p*** today.

Going out there with a untested engine is a task for sure.

In this sport you fellas are in, its a lot like aircraft...1 loose nut can be a disaster...so I applaud the caution and safety built into the modern en***y it has become and its still unpredictable...sad to see tragedy at the flats...racing again is an exhilarating but dangerous combination...my thoughts are with you all braving that. Speed Demon was a Hamber? Sounds Familiar...may he rest in peace...

Quite often that is the name of the game out there. Then you go from close to Sea level in a lot of places to 4219 Ft and your tune that worked great back home is off.
