Hello, I am looking to convert a 1933 Ford 4 door sedan to a 2 door. Just curious if anyone has the door dimensions for a 2 door and the A pillar to B pillar measurement. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
The 32-33-34 Moredoors look better than Tudors…to me, anyway! Just saying. I’d chop the top on the 4 door…and skip the door deletes.
Thanks, looks like i might have my work cut out for me if i do it. Didn't think i would have to get into the c pillar but clearly some difference there. Was hoping to build a chopped and channeled 2 door sedan but came across a super clean 4 door for next to nothing and couldn't p*** on it.
I agree, maybe someone is good enough with photoshop to make it look like this as well but keep the 4 doors
Not a Photoshop user, but I can cut/paste. This is a ballpark and it's using the no windshield lean no distortion approach. You can distort the photo to shorten the top, but that's not realistic, it makes the curves all proportionally smaller.
I don’t think either would look good dragging on the ground like the purple A in your dream photo. But that’s just my own opinion.
I didn’t even think about the rear panel behind the quarter window being different. My opinion for what it’s worth, the idea sounds interesting but it’s way more work than it is worth. The 4 door is cool and possibly a relatively cheap starter .
There's a few made-up 34/5 tudors down here as GM Holden didn't build them, only 4-door sedans were available as Fisher bodies weren't offered. As an example, the ones here graft the front section of the rear driver's side door onto the rear of the front p***enger door and vice versa to achieve the designed length. The original 'B' pillars are moved back with the left over door skins welded back on to form a rear quarter with the rear side windows reshaped to eliminate the quarter gl***.
Im curious why you think it wont look as good, i get its a A in my picture but there really isn't alot of differences in shape between the two cars
No matter the direction you go I hope your cabinet building skills are top notch. Those things are nothing more than an old wood shipping crate with Sheetmetal carpet tacked on. Ask me how I know. Never never again!
Haha oh i see that already. Started taking all the wood out of the doors. I plan on building metal inner structure for doors and body to eliminate the wood.
Or, you could just build a neat Fordor car like I did and save yourself a ton of work, money and time. Just because it has extra doors doesn't mean it's not cool. Run it without apology I say.
Not afraid of some work. I run my own custom and restoration shop. Built all of these start to finish for the same client.
Well, if you're going to loose the wood and do the Doors in metal; You better do the part the hinges mount in also! What a Pain in the ***! I could have built 3 Ford's no matter how many doors with less effort. But then it wouldn't be an All Metal 34 Chevrolet!
Here's a thought. I have a New still in the box replacement wood kit for both doors of a 2d sedan. It took 19 months to get what I have and never did get the A and B post wood or the Top bows before Jim p***ed away. Just one of the reasons I did what you see above. I also have some interior window molding that might help if your set on converting to a 2-door sedan build. This would give you true dementions to build to during your conversion and maybe make a little easier to do. It can all be had.
Thanks, judging by all the pictures i see it looks like the front door window and the quarter window on a sedan are almost the same so as long as I'm around that i think ill be good. Came across this 34 chev sedan called Warthog, not sure who built it but gives me some inspiration for my build.
