Hey guys, I picked up a 3NE57 a while back and I really want to put it in my 32 but I would like to run a full hood, preferably without blisters if I don’t have to get too crazy with the set back.

anyone know of any cars like this? Got any pictures to share?

    thanks yall!!

Early hemi is 29 inches across the valve covers, IIRC. A tape measure should guide you.

Not a full hood, a bubble would be needed.

Another, the need for a bubble is more obvious.

A big setback and a 29 A, looks like a full hood is possible without a bubble.

I started measuring on my 5w last night.

mannnnnn 29 inches is HUGE in a 32 engine bay.

I don’t know that I could move the engine back far enough that make that happen and still keep the car drivable.

    guess I’m looking towards blisters!

also that said, I appreciate the ones that are cut out but I’m not sure that’s my speed.

anyone have some pictures of cars with blisters?

    @hotdamn
You can move engine back ,
But If your over 5-3 ish you will not have any room unless You want to be the only one incab straddling the engine and trans between your legs and add a rumble seat for other p***engers if you wish ,
2 ,4 door ,Vic required to set engine back to use a full none mod hood sides
    With out stretching body
Or maybe dry sump keeping engine low & back , will & still eat up cab room

A reverse open scoop would look much better vs a big pimpleo_O

The cutouts look like being in the group of groomsmen with yer fly open.

Does have a 331 instead of the 392.

Loose the hood sides, show off the Hemi.
Why go through that much work and expense, just to try to hide it all?

Because Im a subtle kind of guy.

    I’m not flashy.

I like things a little more subdued.

also I don’t care about the flash of this engine. I care about the 390hp & 420 ftlbs in bone stock trim…

Just run a hood top and paint the engine and all it's accessories gloss black.

Then, hood bulges, or cut outs to clear the front corners of the hood will attract a lot more attention, then a motor painted black (or painted to match the other under the hood things) with open hood sides will, in my opinion.

Since you are sold on the ''Hemi in a 32'' thing and you say you are not Flashy but Subtle and you want a full hood and no Blisters, may i suggest selling the 392 and buy a 241 Red Ram Hemi as they fit and that will cover all bases.......... Or not. JW

May I suggest a Toyota Preis then .
If all you cared about was 390 HP and the torque and not looks then a 350 chevy with some cheap heads will do all that for about $5000 less than the value f a rebuilt 392 and have 200 pounds or so less weights and more reliability and if it breaks you can get parts at AutoZone AND the damn hood fits .

I get a nice clean car and all that but if your going to great lengths to get it to fit just for the pretty tame today performance im going to call BS .
Is a Hemi under the hood still cool in a 32 ? Absolutely go for it but don't claim its only because of the HP and torque ., Your doing it because of the wow factor of a Hemi covered or not . I have ZERO issue with that NONE but dont BS a BSer

I have one I hope to put in an 31 A PU but It would have a hood top at the most and likely not that .

Im not going back wards in power and weight to hide it LOL. it will be there because its a cool old Hemi .
In your car ,short of drastic engine set back its not going to happen and Id think the set back would make it a worse car as far as subtle and cool . Race car different story .
post pics of the build or swap cool stuff no matter what .

Not the same, but the same concept:
I hated these oval holes for many years, but finally came up with a clean alternative.

The 392 in my 51 just poked out of the top of the hood. A scoop from a 52 Mercury’s hood was the solution. I spent several years thinking about what to do to hide those air cleaners, and lived with those two oval holes until the idea hit me.

For your 32, you might start with just a hole in each side of the hood, and keep thinking and looking for solutions. A tightly fitted hole in the hood sides and body colored valve covers might be a good starting place until you discover the solution you like. Weren’t there some high performance Mercury Comets in the 60s with some hood scoops that might be discrete enough to work on the hood sides?

A quick solution may not be the best one. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and hot rods are never finished.
