I got a fancy ford 39 banjo wheel to go on my 39 ford truck buy it won’t fit. The taper is different. It goes on halfway and has a lot of movement. I have the steering wheel that came off the truck and another truck steering wheel I got of eBay that both fit but this car steering wheel has a different taper. I want to make this banjo wheel fit do I need to find the correct taper for I can get a reamer.
Splined taper or Taper with Key way ? It taper & key way , with out us seeing pic & there is enough material, taper steering wheel same taper of column shaft & file in the key way with mini files or jewelry files
I seem to recall (or not), that the taper is the same as a tie rod end, at seven degrees. If there's enough meat in the hub to ream it, that should work.
If it’s a big truck, the shaft is bigger, if it’s a pickup the shaft and taper is the same as a p***enger car.
What's chances that nice banjo wheel isn't from a Ford? Other makes had 'em too. But I agree that here should be enough meat to ream it out.
It looks like a ford wheel. There is a name on the back of the finger grooves. Best I can make out is sheller or sneller. The second letter is damaged. There is plenty there to ream out. But what size & taper?
Everybody has something like this. If you don't, you should. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005XUHKSM/?tag=atomicindus08-20
