Looking forward to P-Town coverage Bill, considering the post-65 cars that will be there, if possible try to "hide" those cars so @Moriarity won't have to delete any of your photos.

Just bought this 55 210 at Auction. Ran the numbers and it turns out I just missed its 70th Birthday. It was the fourth car built on Wednesday Aug 24, 1955 at Norwood, OH one week before the last day of production. Cashmere blue and India ivory standard two tone. Excited to get it home! Plan is to make it look something like this car.

    Hello,

One of my friends from high school was the oldest in our group. So, he was the first one to get a cool car. It was a black and white 55 Chevy 2 door post sedan. It was the coolest at school and always was an eye stopper after he made some mods in his 55 Chevy two door sedan. From a pure stock look as a used car to a cool teenage cruiser by turning in the whitewall tires inside out and running an all black paint rims with small hubcaps made it look somewhat intimidating. But, the key was the lowered rake angle that made the day.
    upload_2025-9-15_4-49-44.png a starting point...
The other Chevy was our older friend and his was the shiny custom green paint, with white tuck and roll, as well as chromed reversed rims. It was a show car used as a daily driver. It was at the other end of the “money” spectrum.

Here are a couple of story facts, from an earlier post:

In high school, I met this guy that drove to school from a far away place, Palos Verdes. We drove about 2 miles to get to the campus. Bixby Knolls was about 3 miles to our high school. This guy drove almost 16 miles to get to school. So, how does that far away distance qualify for a Long Beach school? He had an address within 3 miles of our high school and used that to qualify to attend, until he graduated.

His claim to fame was this custom 55 Chevy green two door post sedan. We had no photos of it and they were never posted, although the high school journalism cl*** and school newspaper had a campus car show and that 55 Chevy was entered. But, no photos.

Then 60 years later, I conversed with a HAMB contact that had a 55 Chevy built almost the same way as my friend from 1959-61 timeline. Lowered rake sedan, white tuck and roll upholstery and chrome reversed rims. The colors were not the same, but the overall style and appearance was awesome. Nice build @firemangordy ...

Thanks for providing almost an exact duplicate of the 55 Chevy sedan (his own 55 sedan is also a great build) from our old high school scene and @themoose for his outstanding version of the cool custom car color, during the 1960-61 school year memories.
    upload_2025-9-15_4-53-37.png
An almost 100% duplicate of the best custom hot rod in 1960 at our high school. In our sophomore year, this car “ruled” the scene. It was not the fastest car around. But, as far as customizing was concerned, everyone wanted this car for their own uses. Cruising, dates, car shows, and even going to the spectator’s side of the local Lion’s Dragstrip. Not only was the build outstanding with all USA parts and upholstery, the green paint was done locally at a So Cal custom paint shop. It was the most envied car in the whole school for several years, until the owner graduated.

If one got to sit inside in the Chevy sedan in front of the school parking area, it was a “cl***y” move. Most kids parked along this street and walked by the street parking area into the front of the school. If one got the first three parking spots, it was well protected from harm due to it being right in front of the English cl***es for all levels of the high school. So, at one time or another, everyone (including the teachers) looked out of the windows and that kept the cars parked in the first 3 spots, relatively safe from harm.

The whole school knew of the Chevy sedan due to being in “the always in the main parking spot.” But, when the Friday/Saturday night cruises took place, how could anyone not notice a bright green 55 Chevy with all white tuck and roll installed in the USA, not South of the border. I was one of the lucky ones that was “allowed” to sit in the p***enger seat during some of those Friday/Saturday night cruises.

Envy was paramount and although my other friend had a daily driver 55 Chevy that we also cruised in, the custom touches were different, but evident. YRMV

But, the black and white version was in our own age group and got used a lot. It was fast for a stock 265 motor and it was very roomy inside. Double dates or a full 4 teenager set of friends cruising made his 55 Chevy very low and almost CHP ticket material. Being pulled over from the local police did happen, but when the police measured the lowest part versus the steel rim of the 55 Chevy, it was well above the legal limit. 4 teenagers made the car lower for cruising… ha!

He is still around and we are both getting on in age. So, here is a tribute to the friendship and cool times we had cruising around in his 55 Chevy sedan. It also helped that his house was located near the only A&W Root Beer stand, near our high school and so, late night snacks for growing teenagers was right there. He had the advantage of the popular stand until they built the First Char-Broil Hamburger Diner near my house just over the L.A. River and Freeway on PCH in the Westside of Long Beach.

Then, of course, they built the second Taco Bell place also near the Char Broil Hamburger Diner. After all of these years, the Char Broil place moved to another location and the Taco Bell is still in history as the longest survivor of the 1960’s original Taco Bell structures. Taco Bell Number 1 is in a corporate headquarters parking lot under wraps in Irvine, CA. This is #2 and still standing with tons of customers…

The 55 Chevy and 58 Impala as well as the flathead 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery had a permanent spot in those diner parking lots, during our days as teenagers. As our time came during our driving years, that #1 parking spot was fair game and it was a fun way to start everyday of school activities. YRMV

Back in 2019, I drove by the old, but still in business, Taco Bell place and it is still doing great sales on one of the busiest corners in all of the Westside of Long Beach.

    It’s a neat 55! I wish I didn’t already have too many cars or I might consider.

Oh man! What a Peach! Perfect all arounder, no rust holes staring at you, but not so pretty you can't relate to it. I really like cars in that condition.

I own those original nos gold plated Trico wiper arms and blades and they were not used on the 50 Millionth Tribute car.
