Sorry, My first time for postponing here... trying to post pictures. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Oh Yes!!! I had heard it surfaced, this is fantastic, you win the best internet post today!! Please keep the updates coming. For those unfamiliar with the car
Yes it is! It is currently at machine shop waiting for pistons. Should get it back in about a month or so to start ***embly of it. The body tub is just about ready for paint, I’m searching for some parts that are missing. I need some pre war SW gauges and some Kelsey Hayes bent spoke wheels. I need 5x5 1/2 bolt pattern.... I do have four 5x4 1/2 if anybody is looking for some. I’ll post more pictures when I figure out how to get them out of file, I guess the H.A.M.B. app doesn’t allow it. Tdracer, That is great to hear! Saw that your join date is pretty recent- spend a little time learning how to navigate on the HAMB with a computer, and I'm sure you'll find just about everything you need (between people reaching out to you and the cl***ifieds) for the restoration!
Another gem from the past survives the ravages of time...what an incredible find...I have shared this unique Hybrid Hotrod /Custom and here it is...just like that... Welcome to the Hamb @Tdracer...
If you post your general location in your profile a member close to you might have the wheels or other parts you're looking for or knows someone who does. Just a suggestion. Looking forward to further updates of this cool piece of history.
What is it based on...it's looks like a Hollywood Graham but I think not...39 Chrysler Imperial perhaps? Coach built...quality is stunning...that's 2 Hotrods that I've seen utilizing that front sheetmetal and trim and both are survivors it seems...How well did it do at, would it be El Mirage?... Credit to Photographer, Owner
Bttt...no pressure just saw a pic shared and hope all is well and coming along @Tdracer... Such a cool Hybrid and connection to the Good Ole Days...
Engine is now sitting in car. Paint work is done, now trying to put everything back the way it was in 1938. If anyone has anymore pictures, they would be appreciated.
I thought I would update this thread. As of today 7/20/25 the restoration has been completed and the car is scheduled to cross the auction block at the Me*** Monterey auction in August. https://www.me***.com/lots/1149441/1940-von-arx-special-custom-roadster/ It turned out spectacular, a true tribute to the original build. Here are a few photos I took of it in the final stages of restoration.
I am not the owner nor the restoration person(s). I know the owner, the body and paint work was done by the shop that does all of my projects, I wanted to update the progress of the car so others could see how it turned out. The body, ch***is and engine is as it was when Eugene Von Arc owned the car which is a tribute to the dedication it took to bring this piece of history back to life.
Yes, The hammer price was $72k, just like most sales the prices were down. Someone bought a piece of Hot Rod history for a bargain price. The price shown on the attached is inclusive of buyers fees, it hammered for $72k.
