Looks like I will be pulling the dash out of my 34 as part of rewiring the entire car. Am I correct in thinking

    1. For oil pressure I can remove the line from the back of the gauge, leaving the line in place?

    2. For water temp I need to remove the sensor and remove the entire unit as a whole, gauage and all.

    Gauges are 70s SW.

Be careful with the temp gauge cable and probe. If you brake it or it leaks the gauge is garbage.

You are correct. However, I will mention that if this is the 34 which has been together for a long time, the oil line is either plastic (replace) or copper (inspect). Also, having a loose line up there is going to be a bother. It would be smart to remove it from both ends and reinstall after wiring.

The tubing used (at least with quality gauges) is Tygon and the only thing I’d worry about would be the ferrules. Don’t over tighten them and in particular if you remove the line cut off the old ferrule and replace it with a new one. Snug it up and check for leaks, but never work out on a ferrule.

  8. There's companies that can rebuild the bulb and line.......might not be cost effective though. Plus those gauges aren't that hard to find.

I like the Kilometer p-touch conversion.
