So after much trial and error, mostly error, we got the 836 car up to 137 mph. Woo hoo! This was a licensing run, had to stay under 150.
Last run today was a spin on course 3.
Try again tomorrow. The car has a lot more speed in it

Tuesday was a day for a new driver(rookie) to get behind the wheel of the 836 car.
We made 4 runs with best speed of 119.
I'm home now, but had a great time at Speed Week. Can't wait until next year!

Gongratas! How did Brian B*** do? last run i saw him make was on the live stream, and looked like he had a nasty back fire through the blower. Don't know if he was done after that.

Well as always the "Salt" can have it's own plan for you. We fought wiring issues and stripping the teeth off the blower belts and were never able to lay down any high speed p***es. "There's always Next Year" right.
Day 2 Sunday was a trgic day, as most know.. Chris Raschke piloting Speed Demon losy his life in a horrendous crash during their 3rd shakedown run. He was running somewhere in the 283 mph range. A huge loss for the LSR community. Now when you hear thunder it's Chris laying down a 400+ mph run! God Speed Chris.
The Hot Rod trophy for the fastest speed during Speedweek was won by the Ferguson Racing streamliner, my favorite, with a 411.948 mph p***. and a 406.133 average record on a 379.606 A Fuel record with Danny Thompson at the wheel! His Dad Mickey Thompson won it in 1959 & 1960. Danny with Hot Rod Trophy.jpg Speed demon #3.jpg 2025 Start Line #2.jpg 2025 Getting In.jpg

@"Wally" Sorry to hear about your troubles.......sometimes that's the way it goes. Last year, we never got the race car out of the pits! Better luck on your next outing

For the first time out with a new engine combo (D/blown fuel), I think we did well. The car went 254 mph off the trailer with a 3 mile average of 245.89 mph to qualify over the existing record. That was supposed to just be a “check-out” p***, so we were pretty excited to qualify on the first run. That was the fastest I’d ever been, and was a pretty thrilling ride driving a short wheelbase roadster with several thousand horsepower on a not-so-great track (salt).

The next morning when we went to back it up, the car wouldn’t start. We found that one throttle linkage arm had slipped and wasn’t letting the ****erflies close. The engine started briefly, but coughed and split open the burst panel.

We went back to the pits, fixed that, and went back out the next morning to try to re-qualify. That didn’t go quite as planned either. I accidentally bumped the left air shifter ****on before we started the car, and then took off in second gear. That wouldn’t have been an issue, but it screwed up my concentration and routine, and I stayed in the throttle too long before going to high gear and flat spun the car at 175 mph.

The car wasn’t hurt at all from the spin, so we went to try again and the fuel pump was on its way out. Backfired just after getting into second gear from a lean condition, and had to turn out early. Motor is fine, but we looked at the data and realized the pump could no longer put out enough volume or pressure at lower rpm. So we called it.

There really aren’t that many roadsters that have been 250 mph, so I have a pretty positive outlook overall. I think we have just scratched the surface of what the car is capable of.

B***, I know close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, but as you say, you should be proud of a 250+ roadster and experiencing a 175 spin without damage.
