Folks Of Interest Passing of da34guy

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by pprather, Aug 20, 2025.

  1. I saw a report by @Davyj that our friend Don Schneidt (@da34guy) has passed.
    I have no further details.

I cruised with Don and the Greybeards on a day tour he organized from San Dimas to the Nethercutt Museum during the 50th anniversary LA Roadster Show in 2014.

Our paths last crossed at the Gathering at the 'roc in 2022.

It's a journey we all get to make but for which none of us are packed, not yet. Travel light. Eyes and throttle open. No need for mirrors. The ultimate road trip. God Speed!

Sad news. His cars were always high on my approval rating.

One of my stories about Don shows just how small this world is. I was at a guys house during a garage crawl in Canberra, Australia and looked up on the wall next to his cars to notice an Oklahoma flag. When I asked the owner what the story on the flag was, he mentioned that he had a friend in Oklahoma. So, I had to ask where it was in Oklahoma. When he said it was Duncan, I asked if it was Don...and it was.

I could always count on a big smile from Don anytime I ran across him at some car event. He will be missed.

  12. ..Such a great story! Just when you think that the world is a huge, uncaring place, we're reminded that the car culture really is a tight little group of like-minded individuals willing to help each other out. And, we're world-wide.

Anyone seen an obituary? I need to make a trip down near Duncan soon and would like to just coordinate with his funeral now if possible. I tried searching with no luck.

Update: Called Tim Rein and found out that Don’s stepson is currently trying to get things figured out and that there may be a memorial in a couple weeks. Don didn’t have any relatives nearby so dealing with all that is required is tough. Anyway, also found out that Don was a Vietnam vet.

Damn... Don was a solid guy. He always had great cars & more importantly a great attitude. Met him selling parts here many years ago & he was a real gentleman.

Bought my 32 Ford 3-window coupe from Don in 2014. He gave me a good price and was super easy to deal with. We visited with him and his wife at their house at Duncan. He had some really great stories, wish I could've hung out with him more. Godspeed my friend.
