Having been rear ended 4 times in OT cars and a couple of scary close calls where I had to get out of the way from the car not slowing down behind me and while in a small early 50's car with tiny stock brake lights seing a 5 serie BMW sliding with it's wheel locked up in the rear view mirror, I decided to use old bus stop lights as third brake light from now on as seen in some of the pictures here.
I also now modify my taillights either by adding a bulb holder or replacing the one plot bulb holder by the twin one so I can separate the brake lights from the turn signals.
I use miniature 21w bulbs when there's not too much room. I still try to avoid LED's for now.

Cant remember where I saw it. Someone converted some pipe organ speakers to brake lights. I was even thinking about using a sparto motorcycle brake light on the package tray of my Merc. pipe.jpg sparto1.jpg

  3. Back in early 80s we did add those “p***ion” lights under the jacked up rear of Camaros and Novas.

  5. The sad thing is it doesn't matter how many break lights you have on the rear of your car if the driver behind you is head down looking at their phone.
