When reading the post Three Pages, Three Picks… | The Jalopy Journal The Jalopy Journal, something stuck out to me. @Ryan said "If we want this thing of ours to survive, this is where it starts—affordable, fun cars that get younger folks hooked." And it got me thinking....... Not just affordable, fun cars, but what about family haulers? They don't have to be wagons, but something with a back seat. I would guess that a lot of young/new guys to the hobby can't afford a stable of toys from PUs to coupes to something to satisfy every itch. I'm talking a do it all car, something a guy can get into, have some fun, and enjoy it with the family.

What are some cool examples you guys have, or have seen over the years?

I always think of something like this:

This is the car that I hauled my family around in when they were growing up.

Each day at Back to the Fifties this summer, my car hauled five people, folding chairs, and coolers from the hotel into the fairgrounds. All at once!

The pic is from a few years ago as it “hauled” down the track at Mokan. My bro said the announcer described the run as being timed with a sundial.

    I like that a lot.
Here’s my more-door. 1/3rd the price of a two door Galaxie. Might not be quite as cool in our eyes but I spent 40 mins this evening buying a pack of beer as everyone in the offy parking lot wanted a chat.

Alchemy, you can't bang the gears too hard when far from home, so the results suffer.

My 57 Fairlane has hauled the family around quite a bit but pretty soon this 48 4dr I recently picked up will probably be the family ride.

I raced your local girl Jen in her 34 coupe. At least I beat her and the SBC. Go flatheads!

My 40 Tudor Sedan is my family hot rod. Has a healthy flathead, drives great, and has tons of room.

When I finished my roadster I quickly realized they make a poor “Family Hotrod”. Hunt was on for a car with a roof and a backseat. Ended up with a 40 Sedan as well. Makes a good “Family Hotrod”. Basically my daily driver over the summer packing family around town to run errands or back and forth to soccer camp.

And I just got this back into service and sold the trailer so it has no other choice but to be a family hauler again :D:D:D

This was my first family hauler I guess. Got it the same year both of my boys were born and drove them around in it for a few years before I sold it and ended up with the 56 I still have.
