I am not a camera guy, but the crispness of the photos is remarkable for the time. Love seeing this. As I said before being a mid-west guy, I do not remember him, but he was certainly an engineer and visionary with engines and chassis. Guess we are seeing double with the trucks. Cool shit!
One truck has red rims, white side camper. Other has gray rims dark side camper. In background of two coupe pics is dark red rear engine roadster 300d looks pretty sharp. Another 2 pic has hot rod magazine plymouth in background
Amazing pictures again. The Kenz and Lesley in Wynns colors which by now had 3 hot Flatties for power, maybe even on fuel ?? The Vesco family 'Liner with a vintage 'Banger...all pure gold
As a Kenz and Leslie fan I really dig these shots! In this shot, you can see the camera man standing in the bed as he filmed the launch of the record run for the Wynn's short film that was released to the masses. The white '56 F 100 belonged to Jack Richards, a long time friend of Bill and Roy. Jack also raced the speed shops, '32 at drag races around Denver as a test bed for the streamliner's mills. In '57 the team used the '56 and '53 F 100's in tandem to get more speed for the streamliner from the starting line.
Quincy's Speed Shop roadster, entered in 1957 as Quincy-Jacobson & Cambor Photo from 1955 run by Ross-Jacobson
Twin Ford pickup trucks......they look to be government Navy battleship gray paint. I wonder if they were maybe government surplus purchases ??
Love seeing the Khougaz early shot and the Pebble Beach shot. I'm wondering where all those other iconic cars are now if they have survived. It would be cool to see them as they are now as well if anybody out there knows. Andy
They were all learning from each other. Don Waite had what he called was a "canoe nose" in 1953, and faired in radius rods. Other racers used the idea, like Khougaz and Niekamp.
One of the early day's shot about Bonneville I remember was with Dan Guerney (sp?) and his buddies getting ready of a drive and/or tow at a muffler shop in Riverside, California. I've lost it. But it showed me he must have been one hell-of-a-driver as he was picked to drive and/or win on the NASCAR road courses at Riverside. Anyone seen this one?
Yes!! I have the nose to that car! I talk to his son a lot. Great story on that car. I have most of the build pics too.
