Event Coverage Dirt Drags Box Elder, SD August, 30, 31 Roll Call turned Road Trip

A banger road trip, for me, leaving on the 28th to Ft. Collins, CO and then on to Rapid City on the 29th.
Self, and two other buddys' will be traveling together, one trailering his banger Roadster and the other driving his 40/41 Roadster pick up. I will be driving the banger A Vicky. Picking up another buddy in Ft. Collins to ride along...
I know @jet996 is planning on driving from Cheyanne and attending the fun...I believe he is bringing a '29 banger powered Roadster PU....
Who else is planning on attending?

 

I guess I picked a popular event to attend...
Really? anyone else or is this the first you are hearing about it...or already have other plans that weekend

I don't know about camping....my buddy has spoken with the organizers and their phone numbers are on the bottom of the flyer in the first post.

 

I stumbled into this event by pure accident a couple years ago, we were in the area for my wife’s Grandmother’s 95 birthday staying at a hotel in Sturgis. I woke up to a parking lot of cool cars, asked an owner what was up. He gave me the info. I could only spend a few hours as I had other commitments.
You will not be disappointed especially if you’re a participant IMO.
@RMR&C the race track is in the Black Hills, Sturgis is home to a huge MC rally, lots of camping areas. I will attend again sometime.

Dan, thanks for the info and photo...you must have been there the first year and the event has moved but still in the same neighborhood is my understanding. It will be my first time to attend. Used to go too the dirt drags in Monte Vista, CO but that event is no more. It is my understanding that the organizers of this event thought was to make this a like event.

We are planning to participate and my buddy is trailering his banger powered A Roadster because he wants to play hard, I am driving my banger powered A Victoria so I probably won't play as hard...

 

I sure hope this thing continues and grows. I have a 66 Dart that I would like to participate with, not sure if they have the same carry over rules like HAMB. The 66 has the same body as a 63 so qualifies here. I’ll call them next year and hopefully go. If the Darts a no go I’ll see if I can run my 64 Sprite. I wish I could’ve spent more time at the track. Would love to go this year but have prior commitments.

I dont think I am going to make the drags in SD this year. We went the first year and last year and had a blast! Larry let me know when you get through Cheyenne. I would love to see you and catch up a little.

Installed seat belts in the Vicky so I can be event compliant....it was a shame in some ways drilling thru beautiful 94 year old wood then installed and obnoxious old Guide reflector as we are driving dark hours and I don't trust the granny gl*** wearing guy following me

 

Blast off is 5:30 AM Thursday with Ft. Collins, CO as the planned destination

This event is so much fun. This will be the 3rd running of Vintage Dirt Drags in Dakota. No trophies, no time slips, no drama, no at***udes.
Safety requirements: helmet, seat belt, secure battery, good at***udes. See ya'll there tomorrow.

Sunday slightly different, no parade so first flag drops at 12am.
