You are correct, I was referring to the 3 window not the 5 window. Good catch.

The original 5 window Phil Kaelin coupe that was painted by Larry Watson seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. It would be great to find info on it's whereabouts.

I wasn't aware of that either. I hope it is sitting in someone's collection and resurfaces one day.

Being faster is the only way it could beat you...... and who really cares.
Your black coupe is far, far superior in every other aspect. Congratulations on the level of the build. It is amazing.

    Back to the "Lil' Coffin".
If you determine the measure of a custom to be how far it has been modified away from original, then Lil' Coffin wins hands down. Not much left at all. You can still see '32 Ford ghosts in it, but it is really it's very own thing.
It stands out and may top the field as a custom, but to put it at best '32 ever is stretching things a little.......

The first car I posted to Mark was the "orange crate" that was a PNW car most of it's life so we know it well. I would select it over the coffin though it is not "drivable" perse. Perhaps in a straight line, but a ****** to pull into the drive thru.

When I was a kid, everything I drew had 4 bars up front. It was my go-to feature, replaced with superchargers and later with golf club doors.

Like I said earlier “Get out of my way or I’ll take a bite out of your *** and spit it out the pipes!”

  23. Oh

Oh, I'm so stealing this photo. I would trade my wife for this car. :)

  24. Took me a while to find a rear shot of the coffin. From that angle... I can still see the 32 pedigree.

I always thought Mark started the burgundy car after selling the orange car.
Curious, your connection to Mark, I never met him, even when I was at an event when he was there, I never saw anyone around it (other than the photogs).
Man, he has an eye, heard it was a "didn't fall far from the tree" kind of deal, the orange car stops me in my tracks still when I see it in my old magazines.
He really connected with the right people to build that car, some big SoCal guys.
    U-Wish, such a perfect plate.

And built with just that one crescent wrench on the wall, remarkable. Sure saves on pegboards and tool chests.
