Show the Bunny with a Pancake on his head ! You're a car guy when you wonder if you still own a T roadster or traded it off already. Hypothetically.

You are at your buddy's Green Bay Packer party and you are more excited about the truck commercials. Specifically how that truck hooks up to my car hauler and how many new projects I can haul home with it. Commercial ends and some team is first and ten and looking at a full court press or hole in one or something.

The Profit of any endeavor depends on the individual and his social abilities.
Having been raised in a service station as an apprentice, I learned 2 things No make that three.
First where and how to get parts at discount and tax free, second that fixing cars to run right was as much a pleasure as it might be a profit.
( a lot of the glitches of the era were easy but they were all do able, with simple tools )
( Except for one VW squareback with Fuel Injctn and a busted rear window. (sorry Maggie ))
Third mostly before and somewhat after getting married, many ladies need to have trust in the guy that repairs their klunker.
For me the combination of the party scenes of latter 1960s and early 70s combined with many random miles of driving to and from tow customers kept my name in stead value for,,,
"Call Tom" or "This is My friend Tom He can help you".
Those 'benefits' are secure locked away in my memory bank Thanks fer asking.

    Thank You@Sharpone

  18. I never said it wasn’t I also personally know the man who made to post, and I get asked all the time “Why isn’t your car finished?”

Many people have a difficult time with the concept that family/life obligations have to come first.

I guess I could pull a Dale Earnhardt and a abandon my family (in his case two families) but my family/friends are bonded because of racing and hot rods!

I do know what you mean, as I have had many similar comments.
42 years from bottom photo to top photo, and many many comments that have surprised me.
Most people that make the comments don’t know my circumstances, (and don’t need to).
Old cars have been helpful in dealing with stuff.
The comments stopped bothering me a long time ago……….
Probably not considered a car guy by some, but that doesn’t bother me either……

You know you are definitely an old car guy when you go to your barber and as he’s trimming the sides he says where did you get all of these scars on your head from.

-when one of your important goals in life is to have a lift in your home garage
-when your wife tells you she knew you were the guy she wanted to marry because you fixed her car like it was nothing

When you take out a bank note for a hundred year old car because you always wanted one and can “afford” it.
Now you can’t work on said hundred year old car because you have no parts budget.

My dad tried to warm me. He said yep……Years ago I wanted a new boat so I could go fishing. So, I bought a new boat. When I had the new boat I could not afford to go fishing.

I may not accomplish much, but at least for a couple of years, I have a couple of hundred reasons monthly to prove I’m a car guy.
    I literally have the receipts.

When you are watching that car movie or show, but have to turn the volume off because 10 minutes in, you can't stand how many mistakes they make talking about the car you are looking at.

When you look at pic like this and try to sort it all out. I see a round tube (or small web) 9", a steering column with shift tube, swing pedals, and what looks like some sorta shock mount. Good stuff, 'junque'

No shock mount, I delivered the ‘58 parts to @Jeff Norwell this summer. 9” pedals and steering column/box!
