73 very soon. Still don’t feel old. Thank you Lord. 23 yrs now. Rarely ever miss a day I don’t show my ugly face.
Well, crap!! I am one of the oldest in years I suspect, but still a newbe on the HAMB. Pretty good place. Ben
I guess it's the back in the day thing not actual years, like how old are you are, but I'm sure I came across that way, sorry. It's the crazy characters when the hamb first started, you missed a lot, I'm not kidding, you wanna talk about fun stuff and garage talk, well, you had to be there, so fun I'm just trying to come back into the garage. I have been picked on in the past JDEE is of his meds LOL been a while
That's what's so cool about hamb, it's all about the garage, just fun stuff. I'm only 65 years old and I got stories from the older guys like Big Daddy Don Garlits, like riding into a closet and 25 horses.
22 years on the HAMB and try to never miss a day. I'll be turning 80 a lot sooner than I care to admit and have been a hot rodder for as long as I can recall, but I still manage to learn something from y'all on a regular basis - thank you!
Well, it looks like I have been here 15 years. I may not be an old timer on the HAMB, but I turned 83 in April 2025! Still playing with 'Old cars and hope to for many more years.
23 years for me. I check in every day. I don't watch TV, so this and youtube is my relaxation in the evening.
This place was like a fairy had a bad dream of West Side Story.........all tutu's, pompadours, pink switch blades and proper jean cuff height. Took me a few years of standing in the corner grimacing, then I joined........and switched corners. Ahhhh, the summer of my life......
I am an older guy who is 72.5 years of age, and a relatively new guy here, only been here since 2019. It's great to be a part of this community, especially as a contributing member to the weekly (FAS). Doing my best, to try to build better International relations, and more positive communication, between Mexico and China ! Groucho Marx once said, "You're only as old as the woman you feel"
All this old talk. Fuck off. I don't mean it in a bad way, just sayin. I feel like a good running 57 Chevy post 2dr, sometimes it's even pretty fast. From a distance it don't look bad. 50 footer I think. Mrs Highlander is a 63½ Galaxie. Nice lines, not too needy, a looker for life. Still starts every day but once in a while makes a helluva racket. No rust. The old Chevy, don't get too close. Today some think my motor is broke but that's cuz young 'uns don't get the high lift solid lifter life. Don't get the harmony that admiring old stuff brings to bear either. As to age, the little voices that would warn or advise have changed their ways. ["You shouldn't say that"] is now ["Fuck it, see what happens."] So far so good. Last quip, and you can admit you see it too. I grew up seeing age as wisdom, experience, problem solving being easier. Nah. I've bumped into so many knuckle dragging mouth breathers of age I find it hard to fathom. Stupid. Senseless. Stubborn. Uninformed. I spend a good amount of time behind the wheel of old cars, not all mine. Contempt, hard looks, even the occasional finger. Sometimes my cruise control gets into respect elders territory because my mind won't let me think that I too am an elder. But more often lately the "fuck off" or middle finger gets used as needed. Never mean, just replied in kind. Advice; Ask for senior discounts. Your hair isn't grey, those are decorative cobwebs (if you still have some). Let someone hold the door for you. Get help lifting shit, there may be rust in your frame you're not aware of and you're too old for hero status. No need in extending your ass crack with a back surgery. Most of us can easily get to or have good docs. Real tough guys get shit fixed right away. "I'll be alright..." isn't impressive, get it checked/fixed/medicated. Never stop learning. Nothing feels more youthful than learning something new. Well, within reason. I don't give a shit about modern hi-tech and I learn shit I never knew all the time about our stuff. We should all be proud to participate here where knowledge and experience are both shared and learned. That's it. The fuckin soap box was cardboard. Looked like wood, where's my damn glasses...
I'm still here Jdee! Check in every day I'm home (But you know I DO vacation a lot!). I haven't been to Florida in ages, but I'll visit, if I do!
Dont know how long i have been on here, but i am one of oldest if not the oldest on here. I am 90 and still work on my car when i feel like it.
I have been here since 2000 or a little before. Ryan did a reboot around that time. I’m 57, been here so long that I watched people kids grow up and get married. @NoSurf and I were talking about this yesterday. I have friends that I met in the early days on here and still talking to them.
Hats off to you, Highlander, you have a way with words. " Such style! Such flair!" Spoken in my best Mr. Wint voice (Diamonds are Forever). Your posts always entertain. I usually feel like a Slant 6 running on 5, a bad water pump, rusty rockers, needing a set of plug wires, and the oil is pretty dirty, but doesn't appear to have water mixed in with it... yet. 21 years.
I've been here 21 yrs. I'm 74. I visit at least once every day. I couldn't have built my roadster without the HAMB. Bill
Man I realized the other day that I’m not one of the young guys anymore lol. I’m not that old but doing the math I’ve been reading the jalopy journal for around 27 years. Shit lol
