That's a different book (last item is Custom Painting Technique vs. Brakes and Suspension in Moriarty's book). So there's a few different ones to collect!

It would be kind of fun if the bound volume included "Teen Make-up" between Carburetion and Ignition.

I remember that add and have no clue as to why I never ordered one except that 3.95 was 3-1/2 hours of pay then for me. I had just turned 16 in November of 62 before that magazine came out that the add was in.

Moriarity, do you ever worry about silver fish?
We have 'em bad out here, they like to gnaw on books and papers, often following one colour of ink.
I have to keep good stuff in plastic bags or the little ******s'll start eating the paper or the glue in the spine of the books.

No, I have never had any trouble here. I have had thousands of magazines here for decades and have not seen any evidence of that. It must be a pain dealing with that

Yeah, it's pretty disheartening to see nice old material ruined.
I think it's our damp climate here.
Plus living in a 100+ year old house probably doesn't help. I think the mice used to keep the numbers down but the cat is interfering with this form of control.

  9. That's so cool Moriarty.
I reckon I had #511 'Rocks & Gems" when I was a kid. I went thru a geology stage. Thanks for the jolt.
    Now I have 516, 522 & 547-
    'Carburetion Systems',
    'Fuel Systems',
    'Hot Rodding the Plymouth'.

On the weekend I scored 'Hot Rod magazine- the first 12 issues'. Now I need my '49> fix, but Hot Rod Mag is thinner on the ground down under, esp. pre 62. HRMstock3W33.jpg

Which issues do you need? I have some duplicates you can have. :)

The 99speedshop site looks like a great resource for do***enting what you have and are missing. I saw a number of the loose small books offered, but you will have to dig for the hardcover collections. I'd imagine that the hunt is something you enjoy and are experienced with!;)

The Spotlite series was numbered 506 thru 559. There were a few non-car related issues (507, 509 and 511 thru 513). Subjects like horses, rocks and hunting (if I remember correctly).

In my duplicates, I have some of your missing issues:
    523 - Brake Systems
    535 - Hot Rodding the Ford V8
    543 - Hot Rodding the Dodge V8
    545 - Stick Shift Conversions
    558 - Brakes & Suspension

Let me know if you want them. I’ll box them and send them to you. :)
