I'm not sure who ***embled them or where they were ***embled and that may be an issue. The other thing is that there may not have been enough demand to keep a crew of skilled workers to ***emble them. The demand for individiual parts to fix cars probably grows but they may not have sold all that many complete bodies.

I'll go with the Idea that they just weren't selling enough of complete bodies at the time to justify it to the bean counters.

This summer I visited Walden Hammer Works and he was ***embling one from parts he'd obtained direct from UP. I bought an early one ***embled in China but sold it. I then bought an original. I see 5 window bodies every week on the HAMB and other sites for sale. Nothing beats an original.

I guess I got one of the last ones. It’s a great piece as I have many Henry parts fenders, running boards , hood etc that bolts right up with good fitment.

There was a Company in Europe I believe Sweden that superseded the
    32 5w in steel by "10" years before U-P .
So I do Not know for sure if U-P
    Purchased the Rights & stamping?
I have asked questions to Direct parties,
    Involved with U-P body .
Because The story I have been told how
The Body 32 5w came about is ,
    The Original owner father of
    Vintique parts Corp ,used
Chad or Cesar , father Original 32 5w
To Laser scan / photo dot scan to make
    Dies from .
There are few Rumors why No longer
Full complete body by United Pacific.
One is dies are warn ?
    The Other Possibility,
Was because of a call , was
Involved with & other return call's
    Back & fourth
    Not mentioning names
    S.
    Or
    E.
    & a third,
    Back in around 2018 or 19 ,
    It was concerning to them.
Then Covid all around same time.

    Not really relevant to U-P
But like a few other's here have connections with
    B-V going back to 80's

If the link that @5w Jen provided is current then 149,000 SEK is just under $16,000 USD. I imagine shipping would be a ***** though

Yes they have been around some time, they were also involved making parts for the Brooville Phanton, I think they made the doors.

It's not the shipping that's gonna be the most expensive, it will be like shipping a car, but there's another thing to pay.

I would think the $8000 steel tariff would probably be a bigger *****.

I believe that Sweden is part of the EU and I also believe that the EU tariff rate is 15% which would be $2400 ?

Yes, and the Swedish prices include 25% value added tax which is not payed for export to the US.

So that makes the cost still very reasonable but the freight cost, which would have a cost also to ship the UP body in the US, a decision maker I would think.

Pretty sure the only country that is exempt from the 50% steel and aluminum tariff is the UK and they are at 25%.

Not sure if the Swedish 32 has been refined by now but I recall it displayed at an event & the U.P.I. offering was just around the corner & was far better, both however well deserving.

It's 25% flat rate on anything European. 15% was until 2 month ago.
The question is do they consider it as a Steel product or not. Because it's 50% otherwise.

Shipping a driving car cost around $2500 I'm guessing as a roll in roll out, but you need a 20ft container for a crate from sweden to the US and it is aroung $5000 (first price I saw, might be possible to find cheaper), you have to add the shipping from Jocar to the harbor, the unloading cost in the US, unloading cost is never included in the shipping, same for ro ro, the 25 or 50% tariff and shipping from the harbor to your place.
Better to buy bodies un***embled to fill up that container.
When I bought my A RPU body from Brookville I bought it un***embled to save 2/3 on the shipping cost.

    Thank you @chrisp .
I wonder how the shipping container works,
Lets just say 5k 20 foot container,
Is that a for Usage or do you think its
Like Sea crate itself , You kind of Rent .
Here where I am @ 20 foot containers
To purchase average good 2,500 with delivered. Or 5k New.

You don't buy the container, it's just the right to use it and the transportation, you can fill it up to the ceiling if you want.
When it's at the destination harbor, either you go there to empty it within a week or so, I don't recall exactly, then you pay storage fees beyond that time frame or you pay a truckin company that will bring it to your door and you have 2 hours free (maybe that changed) to empty it at trailer level beyond that there's a hourly fee, without a dock it can be difficult to empty. You can rent a dock spot at a local docking facility if they do that.

A 5w in a 5x5x5ft wooden crate shipped by UPS or FedEx could be cheaper than a container.

A lot of shippers who help car folk with this type of shipping will put several orders going to the same port in a container. the Guys from OZ have that done a lot. The people who ***emble the bodies may have a shipper who does that. If you bought the container you would end up having to have it hauled from the port it lands at to your location by a container hauler. That might cost more than the container.
