First off, you painted a pretty good picture of that rpu with (in my mind) a high winding blown small block running a dose of nitro. Second, I don’t disagree with the wheels, but maybe they should get the Dow treatment. On the other hand, a junior fueler, injected small block 150 inch wheelbase, same with the wheels and tires, but the front wheels of course have to be wire spokes. Jet black is my choice of color. But then I thought could I ever afford just the wheels. And then said oh well…
" While I was at it, I’d make sure the rears were polished too." I LOVE this!! I know to each his own, but I'm firmly in the camp of highly polished magnesium wheels.
The struggle is real. I have been looking for a pair of 900-14 Goodyear Blue Streak Drag Way Special tires and pie-crust M&H Super Stock cheater slicks for years…
I live in the same area as the seller and those look exactly like a pair I sold years ago. Halibrands 16x10 with Blue Streaks. They'll probably show up at the Sacramento Auto Swap this Sunday the 7th at the Hard Rock Casino in Wheatland. It's only about 30 minutes from where the seller lives according to their Ebay listing.
5 on 5 pattern says (to me anyway) they were bolted to a 9.3 Olds/Pontiac rear might as well keep with the theme and have a blown 394 Olds turn them
the guys on the photoshop thread can help you realize your vision, at least on paper anyway. @themoos
I have a pair of Blue Streak cheater slicks on steel wheels, I think they're 9.00-14". I haven't checked the bolt pattern but I think they're Chevy. They've been in my garage attic for years and are hard as rocks, but I don't think there are any cracks in the sidewalls. They'd probably be okay for cruising the grounds at a car show but I wouldn't want to drive anywhere on them. I picked them up years ago at a swap meet. When I got home I cleaned them up with some soapy water and a scrub brush, and unfortunately the blue stripe on the sidewall washed off. I suppose they could be replaced with one of those paint pens.
Reminds me of the Tiii m me... . As an unschooled and underfunded aimless hanger-on, I wound up with a sorry but noble '55 Nomad that had race time on the strip, and time just wasting away under a tree. As I pieced it together, with a new front seat an old small block and the tallest suspension I could buy, I caught the attention of a well endowed drag racer who was 'reshoeing' his big block Chevelle. He gifted me worn M&H piecrusts on steel rims that were black and half white. The look made me famous with the neighborhood kids. Truth told I didn't have the oats to turn them. A high rev and clutch dump just made the old beast grumle and die. However I did enjoy the way I could panic stop even on a steep downhill. Final straw tho, was when trying to get up hills in the rain, sorta like snow and icy weather. So I put the regular tires on and the slicks in the reat cargo space, until one night someone decided to bust the vent window to get in an take them and the other goodies that were there. Too bad they didn't just open the doors, as I did not have it locked; .
I too can share your vision, not so much regarding the rims but more so the tires, not so recently purchased a pair of G.Y. Blue Streaks D.T. types from (squeek) Bell Auto Parts for my avatar & yes, plenty of age & stories to be told, but indeed a great touch.............. as they say back in the day !
I thought I was the only sicko that thought the same way. lol I wish they weren’t so far away. Anyone coming to Hershey from the area? I have the matching fronts and a Willys coupe.
Those are my wheels. I’ll cover shipping. 3k to your door. obviously away from that site to save all the dumb fees
