I don't think the sea foam solved the problem, I think there was a restriction which clogged a jet and also accelerator pump wouldn't work at all. After being apart 3 times it seemed that accelerator pump started to work weakly. Maybe what ever clogged it started to let gas thru?? Anyway it got better and eventually ran fine. I wanted to do a test drive so went to Walmart to get seafoam to put in to hopefully help some more or to help prevent getting another piece of **** in to clog up again- Not sure but it ran great all the way home, as it ran great all the way there...!!""?? I think this new China tank maybe has a bunch of weld slagg in it. I am going to install another fuel filter before the pump along with the stock one before the carb.

Forgot this, just another good thing that happened on the way home. Pulled into Mickey D's in Lafollete, TN to get some iced tea and this '57 Fury was there. The owner was inside and came out when he saw the '48. Had a nice conversation with him. He's owned the Fury since '99. It has the dual quad 318. Lafollete TN McDonalds.jpg

  8. Yes It Was!

Of course I am prejudice, but the best part was when Gucci walked up to John while he was filming:p

Hopefully I can do a more detailed post to get all my thoughts down later tonight. Right now thrashing to leave in the morning & ironically my 1st delivery is about 30 west of the show venue.

    God Bless

I appreciate the kind words. I had this big plan to come back on Saturday and get some one on one stuff. Having people tell me where they came from, stories from the road, why they like Lloydfest so much etc. Unfortunately, life had other plans. Still bummed about that. Always next year though.

Greg! You came up to me asking about sea foam, but you didn't tell me anything else! And now that I think about it, there was sea foam in the firehouse. I could've ran to the shop and grabbed the carb bucket to soak your carb and an air tank. I didn't know what was going on my friend. Hell we can fix anything :D thank you for making the trip, it was a pleasure to hang out with you! I promise it'll be bigger and better every year. And maybe I'll bring my Shasta next year

@John B it's all good brother. Thank you for the trophies and dash plaques, I'm sure that @Moriarity shed a tear, knowing that we honored him lol. You should've seen how many of those cruiser nation stickers were presented to me for the "sticker" on the scavenger hunt lol. And you guys need to check out John's show in August, hoodlums in the holler

I've got a KIT camper out front, been for sale for a while. I knew what you meant, but that's what jumped into my brain. One of the reasons I try hard to avoid advertising, that stuff sticks with you!:D

  15. im thinking about getting a shasta compact or a zipper, something small and lightweight that the 57 wouldnt mind pulling... would be neat looking images (81).jpeg

Lloyd, the drive to Walmart was mostly just for a test drive anyway, I didn't want to leave for home the next day and have it **** up again. Again, I want to thank you!! What a bunch of effort and cost you put in and I sure appreciate it! Saturday night was the best- being able to listen to good (no great!) live music and visiting with fellow car guys! I am inn the process of reading Claytons 57 Ford thread all the way thru- (sumpin like 63 pages !)

Lol I have more do it yourself at***ude than anyone on this forum! But I don't want a new camper, I want an old camper. I don't want to pull a new camper behind a 55 Chevy.

There is a breach in the #5 cylinder, coolant leak. Might be able to get away with a #5 cylinder sleeve but that remains to be revealed. There was a ton of work to get to this point. Going to call around the regional machine shops, ideas and brainstorming welcome. upload_2025-9-14_10-3-41.jpeg

Well, we made it home. Rolled in about 3pm today. We left LFlll and went to Frankfort and spent a week there. Went to Buffalo Trace in Frankfort and The Barrel House in Lexington. Drove the '40 Ford pulling my Scooter trailer everywhere we went and it did great. We ate at a lot of local Diners. Food was good. Also did a trolley tour around Frankfort that we enjoyed.
Took our time driving home and stayed at Cracker Barrels both nights. Being CB rewards members, we got a free Old Timers Breakfast when you bought one. If you like CB, the rewards membership is real good.
Anyway, we enjoyed LFlll and look forward to next year. If I was to get off my rear, I might could bring my '55 Ford G***er. Ron

    Ron,

Did you happen to visit the Cliffside Diner in Frankfort? If you didn't, I highly recommend you do so on your next trip.

Yes we did. One of my favorite Diner meals is Hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was one of the best I've ever had. Very thick hamburger steak. Also ate at Shelby''s Diner and Tammy's Diner. And a treat for Lois and I was finding a Fazoli's to eat at since the one near us closed a while back. Oh, and White Castle, another favorite of ours, none around here. You guessed it, we like to eat. Ron
