    But then there's THIS!

Truly for years the title speaks my inner thoughts.

Flat Power posted this in the Classifieds, no I'm not pimping this out and he had nothing to do with this. But this Car is 100% Right. So much so I felt the need to go to confession for being so hard on some things all these years.

This car really, really, Really made me re-thunk my absolutes. Even the White Stripes on the tires I love. Shit everything about this one goes against my grain, but yet here it is. I don't need another anything. But if I did my Ass would be on a plane to the East Coast, Dinero burnin' a hole in my pocket.

For the record: I still despise most channeled Cars, Yellow is truly for most Cowards and Chickens, Almost everyone owns a '32 something, White Walls and Stripes are never for Mags, Chrome Firewalls are for Rich Kids, and .............

    But then there's this!

Our tastes are very similar, but nope, that one is not for me. I'd have to un-channel it, fix/replace the modified quarters/wheelwells and add some front brakes...couldn't live with the yellow either.

I'm thinking that that one is not a road trip car unless it is riding in a trailer. No front brakes, open headers and slicks don't make for road trips as cool as it looks. But it is so cool and looks like one I saw when I was about 14 when it pulled into a foot ball game I was at one night when you could drive in and park at the ends of the field.

Does it have to be a road trip car? The owner may just use it locally. What is wrong with that? I like the fact that it has the spindle mount rims on the front, not the bolt on ones that a lot of people put on to give their rides a gasser/competition look. I personally like the high boy look, but I think this car looks nice.

The title description brings to mind a VERY different image than the car pictured!
Yellow is a color that a little goes a long way.

  13. Interesting because don’t care for chopped cars or Hi-Boys!

Strange I have never thought of the any of early day open wheel racers as ether Chickens or Cowards…

….I have never thought of Pete Corey who faked his age at 14 and signed up for the Navy after Pearl Harbor and was in the Pacific and lost his leg in a crash at Fonda Speedway in 1960 (he cut himself out of the car with a torch) and came back as Chicken or a Coward…

Pete with the little yellow 3…

The (yellow) car he would lose his leg in!

Pete Corey using a cutting torch on the seat frame to himself.
Note the guardrail just behind the right front wheel that entered the car through the firewall and pinned his left leg under the seat.

A friend of mine had a Model A coupe that was yellow and didn't exactly appeal to me. After one winter he brought it out painted purple and it totally transformed this car. 686.jpg 922.jpg

Funny how we all develop discerning/discriminating tastes, but then there is something that suddenly jumps out and becomes the exception to the rule. :)
I won't critique the member's ride, they posted it for sale, not for opinions. I hope it sells to a good home and everyone is happy. :D

I don't necessarily dislike yellow cars. Every car (or truck) has a color that works best for it. Color choice IMHO is very important, right up there with wheel and tire combination and of course stance. That Coupe might look killer in Black. On the other hand, I've never been fond of most channeled cars. It's hard to be comfortable with your legs stretched almost straight out in front of you as you drive.

Interesting that NONE of the cars you posted are Channeled, or hot rods, or street driven or even vaguely relatable to the car in the original post...and just to argue about chicken yellow?

Randy has had the car for sale for a while locally and I agree with your assessment. Individually I'm not a fan of most of those things, but here the end result is substantially more than the sum of parts. A really killer looking little car

I like my yellow 32 ford but have said it is a roll of masking tape and a case of brown spray bomb primer away from being the coolest car almost anywhere I could take it 20240628_203322[1].jpg
