3 windows should not be channeled, and they need full fenders. only 5 windows should be channelled. they should also be chopped. see? doesn't this look better?o_O

I fucking love that car, it sounds snotty as fuck too which helps. I’m surprised still has it.

I 100% don’t think hot rods need to be road trip cars.

I'm surprised it hasn't sold yet. Very cool looking AND yellow, hahahaha. I started a thread a couple weeks ago about yellow cars and got mostly positive reinforcement. 20250726_192255.jpg

It’s all a mater of taste isn’t it? Some cars look great in yellow, some don’t, some look great channeled, some don’t, some cars should NEVER be chopped, some cry out for it. If we all liked the same thing, this would be a boring fucking hobby.

There's yellow, but this one is more "Butter" or cream color.

That car has character. It looks good in yellow, but it would look good in almost any color.

Slicks don't stop me from taking road trips in my cars. Both have Towel City pie crust slicks with just two grooves and even in heavy rains at freeway speeds I've not had any trouble.

  20. I was making a point @hotrodjack33 I am not a fan of certain types of builds colors etc....but there is a major difference not liking something and making generalizations "Like yellow is for cowards" "White Walls and Stripes are never for Mags, Chrome Firewalls are for Rich Kids, and ............."

I harken back to my high school days if we made a statement, we had to prove our point. If I had made a statement like "Yellow cars are for cowards" the teachers would have made me prove my point give specific example(s) of this and if example was not a 100 proven fact or could be countered there would be a back and forth.

As for Whitewalls and Stripes are never for Mags Romeo Plamenis founded what would become American Racing Wheels in the 1950s (I have seen anywhere from 1956 to 1959) He produced this first 5 spoke in 1959.

The following are American Racing Wheels adds from 1962 and 1963 with stripes and full white wall.

As far as chrome firewalls are for rich kids then just as now people have access to different things, when they were young a friend of my father knew people who worked at Scintilla in Sidney (NY) where they did chrome pleating.

He was a working class kid but was able to get things chromed fairly easily and cheaply (until Scintilla found out they were chroming auto parts)

A couple years ago a guy I know bought a 29 Model A sedan from down state. It was bone stock with the exception of the interior (which I ended up with)

It was rolled and pleat that had been done in the early 1960s! The car had belonged to a high school kid who worked in his father's upholstery shop.

Many people are making blanket statement without doing research to support them.

  21. Now to me the appeal of Graffiti Coupe is its "awkwardness". In the movie these are high school or just out of high school kids.

Milner is 20 years old in 1962, and if is the case this would likely have been his build so it would have been a little rough and award.

I saved some of make very first T.I.G. welds at the time I was very proud of them now when I look him I think "Oh, my God!!"

Or finish it like Lucas intended.

    From the interwebs...

According to multiple accounts, director George Lucas originally wanted the 1932 Ford coupe from American Graffiti to be channeled, but the plan was never completed. The car was purchased unfinished, and the production team ran out of time to perform the modification before filming began.
The main features of the coupe are:
    • A "stunted" grille: The grille shell was cut down in preparation for the channeling work. When the shop ran out of time, they simply reattached the shortened grille to the stock-height body, which gave the car an unusual look.
    • A quick-and-dirty build: Lucas intentionally wanted the coupe to look like a "down-and-dirty street racer" rather than a polished "show queen". This is a key reason why many of its features, like the odd grille and exposed firewall, seem unorthodox to hot-rodding purists.
    • An already chopped top: When producer Gary Kurtz found the car on a used car lot for $1,300, it already had a three-inch chopped roof. The movie's modifications happened on top of this existing feature.

  27. Yea. finish it

If you go back and check, I think you will find that no-one said "Yellow cars are for cowards". You have placed the statement in inverted commas making it look like it is being quoted, but I can't find it being quoted by anyone.
What was said, and I quote, is "Yellow is truly for most Cowards and Chickens" and "just to argue about chicken yellow?". Here is the proof-of-point example I put forward in support of these comments...

    YELLOW
Yellow is a primary color in many models of color space, and a secondary in all others. It is a color often associated with sunshine or joy.
It is sometimes used in association with cowardice or fear, i.e., the phrase "yellow-bellied".

It was you that twisted the statements to appear like they applied to the colour of the car a person drives.
Ready for your counter, and the ensuing back-and-forth.......
The real point I am trying to make is this... Chill out guys. It's ok for cars to be yellow, and it's ok to like it or not.
    (Don't mind me, I'm just havin' fun.):D;)
