And remember they are heavy wall/flange parts that act as extra stiffening on stock frame. Aftermarket ones are essentially decorative parts for use on boxed and X-membered frame.
I have an original front I can take pictures of. It has stamped ends and the centers are open No rear but they are odd. The ends are cast/forged and have threaded holes . They are straight. This is the one for the luggage rack.
The original front and rear look the same , In how they are made , Tapper cone shape . I am unable just put my hands on the 32 fact 2 vol books I have . To tell original from A reproduction. I have a original on the front and rear , I do not have pictures inside of and I'm sorry, I'm not taking the spreader apart to show
The actual rear spreader bar, plain, is rather rare. Most you will find are spare tire mounts. Then the straight luggage rack bar. Was a plain bar only used on pickups? And, didn’t the straight bars and luggage rack bars have thick threaded ends so the bumper bolts were easy to ***emble? Thought I’d seen some that way (I don’t own any).
I have had two of the rear bars. They do have heavy ends that have threaded holes for mounting. They also have tabs for mounting the luggage rack. Pretty rare item.
After retiring from the ch***is business I had P&J's build me a custom 32 ch***is. I furnished the standard 2 inch muffler tube rear spreader. When I picked up the ch***is they had installed a 1.75 diameter spreader. I asked and someone in the shop that that was the correct size? In the 100's of deuce ch***is I built I always used the 2 inch which is correct.
Since 2008 , I have been able to locate original Front and rear spreader bars I never put them on a car … always just use them to check if the ch***is horn are not bent @Andy , the ends of the bar looks likes repro ? The ends on a original luggage style spreader tube Bar gets a little bigger in diameter and the ends don’t look like laser cut.not easy for me to put in English language. I build my own repros with 1/8 inch thick tube… not muffler tube. BTW the rear luggage style ones are threaded
I grabbed the pic off eBay. It was just for general shape. The original ends are heavy and tapered on the edges. They are tapped for the bolts. They are steel.
