61 was the last year that GM cars left the factory with "wide" white walls and those were the 2-1/2 inch or less that Moriarity suggested as were as on 60. No real car guy in that time frame would run a white wall that was wider than factory on a new car without catching a ration of **** for running old obsolete tires. OK on your older ride that they came on originally but most car guys quickly went to the new thing in looks just as they still do today unless they are Hamb Traditonalist. The lowrider magazine photos of cars with gangsta white walls got things away from time line custom trends from the late 50's until the mid 70's when custom cars in shows competing for awards ran the latest design tires or premium after market tires = US Royal Masters. That is for what would be considered a late model cars at the time. Screenshot (578).png Screenshot (579).png Screenshot (582).png

If y’all don’t like Mr. Myrick’s ideas, you won’t like mine either.
We always seem to be on the same page…
Lower it some, then lower it some more.

Now that I’ve settled on chrome reverse style with spyder caps what kind of width and backspace?

Beautiful car!! Great colors too. I agree, chrome reverse with pinstripe or semi-wide whites. If I had your ‘60 Bonneville I’d find a set of original Pontiac center chrome reverse or have a set made. High dollar car like that is worth some high dollar wheels. No, I wouldn’t lower it either. Ride height looks great as-is.

Been eyeballing this ‘60 in the cl***ifieds and I love this car. Real chrome reverse, 57-63(??) Pontiac centers, not that chinese junk out of the summit catalog.

They are such elegant looking cars. It’s hard to improve on them. But the chrome reverses and spider caps do it for me. Like putting a pair of stilettos on a high priced ******! :D

Now I just need to figure out rim width and backspacing. :(

Yep, elegant is a good word to use for any 59-60 GM car. I would gladly own any make, any model. 59-60 Poncho especially. I’m thinking the wheels on that 60 Catalina^ are 14x6 with a 2.5” maybe 3” backspace. I just had a pair of 15x8 chrome reverse wheels made by Wheelsmith using 55 Chevy centers, and they’re gorgeous. Very expensive, very difficult to find the hoops, but very much worth the frustration and the cost of cutting four wheels up to make two real deal chrome reverse.

Yup, I had wheels made for my 55, they are real 55 centers and are 15x6 with a 3" backspace, I think this is the limit before the hoops need to be "reversed" . I am sure that you can get away with more offset on your Pontiac if they are anything like the Chevs of the same vintage. Measure what is on the car now and see how much room you have and do some math.... 55ccr.jpg missselegance.jpg

Okay so, forgive my gloating, but I can’t describe the feeling of joy I got when I pulled these out of the Wheelsmith boxes. I don’t even wanna tell you how much $$$ and time I have into these, but they were worth every penny. If you know, you know. (IYKYK)

These are destined for the rear of a 60 Bel Air or a 60 El Camino. Haven’t decided which. Do it @SS327 do it. You won’t regret it.

    Beautiful wheels. But I think mine have a 5” pattern unlike chevy’s 4 3/4”.
