i firmley belive in everyman doing there own thing,,,i mean what suits one man ,,,may not suit the next,,,i get off on seeing everybodys projects....for real,,,i mean,,,i am first and foemost a car guy,,,,everything is bitchin,,,but old hotrods set me off though! i really enjoy it all,,just like YOU!,,i mean,,isnt that why we are all here EVERYDAY! every time we have the chance to log on and check the latest threads,,check out the threads that we replied to,to see if others agree or disagree???(your a liar if you say no!)hahaha


,,,,like i said i love it alll,,,,but,,,your boy has been thinking about some shit latley,....ive picked up a lil hot rod body a lil over a month ago,,,i have my own ideas of how to build it,,,the way I want too,,and i will stick to my plan,,,i have come into contact with many many people,,,who have tried to "change" my ways of thought,,,,it seems there are a wave of soliders practicing the gospel of "traditional / old school hotrodding" but at the same time,,,they always have there own interpretation that suits them best....

,,basically ,,,what i am saying is,,,,i dont give a FUCK about my "HOT ROD" sitting 2 inches off the ground,,,i dont give a FUCK about having a 5 inch windshield and i dont want a fuckin 2 foot long extended suicide front end,,,

,,,but yet,,,it seems as though,,,,that is what alot of people seem to tell me what to do to "my ride"....as if though that is the way it should be,,,and if i dont,,then i am "blowing it"..

I'd rather spend $1500 on other parts of my car than bagging it. Looks cool and all but I'd rather cut the springs I've got and see what happens. If it looks stupid or drives like shit, I'll put the stock springs back in! So what if it doesn't sit on the rockers, mine are rusted out anyway...that'll teach me how to do the body work to have them look good some day!

Just tell everyone that when they pay for the work or parts that go on your car you will build it the way they say to do it.

 

I can dig that. I've always liked hot rods. Doesn't matter if they are $200,000 'glas '32 Fords or my crappy little $4,000 bucket. If they are right, they're right. Although some of the 'shock rods' are kinda neat, I wouldn't build one that way. Stick to your guns and build it your way.

Geez, Sam, don't sugar coat it, tell us what you really think. I agree with you and can't wait to see what you come up with. Fads come and go (and always will) but I think it's refreshing that some of the younger crowd has chosen to explore the early days and reinterpret the look their way. There is some outstanding stuff out there. One thing for sure is that the traditional look always comes back or is it that it never left?

Got a 48 Ford F1 Panel Truck.
Building it just like I would have in 64 except for two things.
5 Speed OD manual box, they weren't around back then and disk brakes up front. Oh, and maybe one or two colors of paint instead of 8 - 12.

Warmed over Flatmotor and a 9" out back.

No trinkets, billet or bullshit.

Your right on Sam, it seems like rubber rats and plastic skulls have replaced cry-baby dolls at shows and cruise ins. A lot of guys are more worried about the little bolt on shit than they are about the build. Some of these guys cars look like they crashed them into the halloween clearance aisle at Wal-mart.

Next time one of these guys starts telling you 'how you should do it' just inquire about what they're driving or where their Hot Rod is. That usually ends the conversation, seems like the most opinionated ones never actually have a Hot Rod at all or if they do it's not quite roadworthy just now.

I call it having "a fender and a dream."

Build it your way brother, judging from your past work it will be just right.
