While I am waiting for the suspension parts to return from powdercoat, I have been attending interior details. The wood rail around the back of the cab was nice, so I ran it through the glass bead machine, sanded it with fine paper, brushed on some Varathane. Next, I wanted to line the inside of the cab with black, textured, ABS plastic, so I formed and aluminum channel that bolts into the original holes in the back panel. After the corners are closed in, there will 10/32 rivnuts installed for fasteners. IMG_0159.JPG IMG_1904.jpg IMG_1908.jpg IMG_1903.jpg IMG_1905.jpg

Tap Plastics, we have several in the Northwest. It's great for interior use, this is how I finished behind the seat in my COE. IMG_7301.JPG IMG_7522.JPG

I’d like to find a pair of those C4 backing plates some day. Had a chance once but dropped the ball.

    Looks great!

Two questions: Is the wood floor tech legal? Does the space in the floor at the back have to be filled?

I am going to skin both sides with aluminum and have all the rest clear anodized . And the rear section will be closed in. I hope it will pass tech.

Tech at the track or state sponsored tech before being allowed to drive it on the streets legally?? I asked as a born and raised Oregonian [The Dalles] and when I left in 1980 there were no tech hoops to jump through except at the track.

A little update, DVC Machine took care of re-bushing and honing the front spindles. So, I got the front suspension in, and set the engine in place this weekend. Progress IMG_1967.jpg IMG_1964.jpg IMG_1965.jpg IMG_1966.jpg !

Going to be one sharp RPU! Curious about powder coating and the machined mating surfaces like the quick change bells. Did they mask them off? Are you having to remove coating from some surfaces and threaded holes? I've seen where chasing threads after powder coating was needed and also time consuming.

Tom, in this case the side bell/housings bolt to the side plate adaptors and it has nothing to do with the machined surfaces, or setting up the rear backlash. I will still use gaskets on the powdercoat surfaces, but the majority of the grease stays in the center section. Also, the plug as many of the holes as possible, but the time it takes to clean out holes is well worth the ruggedness of the powdercoat. Everything that is silver was 400 bucks, and with the cost of paint, I will use it every time I can. The top one on the rack is the one I used. Thanks for your interest. IMG_3707.JPG

I have a few, and the one going in the '29 uses the side plate adaptors for the V-8 housings. That is my favorite look in a 60's era car. I have a Stock Car Products 31 spline locker for it.

Marty, about those other housings on the rack, are those the same, both Ford or is the hidden one a Chrysler?

Got it rolling, since my center section isn't setup, I bolted in a greasy one ! Once I get the splash aprons back from the painter, I can set the the body on, and add fenders. IMG_1980.jpg IMG_1979.jpg IMG_1976.jpg IMG_1978.jpg IMG_1977.jpg IMG_1973.jpg IMG_1972.jpg
