Studebaker Drivers Club & Avanti Owners Assoc are meeting in Washington County Pa. at the Fairgrounds, open to the public Fri & Sat (19-20). if you're in the area, stop in. I was at the fairgrounds for an un-related meeting and saw some really nice cars.
depending on when you get there, activities may have moved to the Double Tree Hotel on RaceTrack rd. just a bit of whats there right now. also a bunch of swap meet sellers.
Just got back from the National Studebaker museum in South Bend, IN. Well worth the visit if you are in the area. They have lots of other exhibits included. Also, an absolute gorgeous 1962 409" Bubble Top Belair sitting alongside a awesome 1964 tri-power GTO. I learned a huge amount of info. about the company that I never knew.
It's awesome that the swap is open to the public, they have always had a closed meet & this sucks for the vendors & the enthusiasts. Crappy way to interest new members. Maybe they are finally coming around...
i don't think it was open to the public. i belong to a Historical group whos headquarters is on the fairgrounds, so i went up to do some work at the house then meandered all around checking out cars & parts
Show is open to public to visit and flea market. To enter a Stude you must be a member to one of the local chapters.
I have never belonged to a club but have never been turned away from entering a show. I would think that with Studebaker being a make with less cars than most that they would be happy to let anyone in. I went to a Mopar show years ago that was sponsored by a club. After the awards were given out, I was talking with 3 guys from the club. They were complaining that there were a few cars there that were not club members but received awards. I told them I was not a member but got a first-place trophy. They had nothing more to say and walked away.
