Got it down on rubber after some time setting on the lift. Should be some good inspiration to keep pushing for completion on my deadline. Had to change out the rear studs to the 5x5 bolt pattern to get the M/T wheels on.

Hope the leather on the accelerator pumps swell up some new fuel and get to working.

Well the accelerator pumps never cam back to life on the 625s Carters. I do have a pair of 750s ready to go but I am a firm believer in only changing one thig at a time. I'm calling the chassis and roll bar upgrades as the one change. I will take the 750s to the track with me and change them out there after I get a baseline of how the car runs coming out of retirement. So got two kits coming for the 625s.

  10. I hear you. I'll also be back to carb rebuilding soon as the Holley I rebuilt this spring also isn't pumping (squirters aren't squirting). It's a replacement for an Autolite 4100 and has no adjustable floats or sight glass/peep hole (I know, weird!) so I'm going to check out a few 1850s that a guy in Belton has available and if they aren't too roached, I'll pick one up plus get a rebuild kit and wash/rinse/repeat. If I get a working carb, then it's onto replacing that damned Duraspark II with a 1970 points distributor and coil. Good luck with your carb swap and rebuild(s).
UPDATE: pulled the carb, watched an online tutorial and noticed there was too big a gap between the accelerator pump arm and the throttle assembly. Removed the pump to find I'd put the diaphragm in upside down. At least that now works. Won't know about the rest of the carb until it gets tested once the ignition's replaced.

Carburetor kits showed up so got the accelerator pumps working. When I had the rear carburetor off the accelerator pump linkage fell off and had me on a wild goose chase retracing my steps. Guess I should sweep my shop floor.

After all the strengthening done to the X frame along with the 6-point roll bar you've installed the Saltshaker should 60-foot hook like a Bear

Not much of a converter in the car to help with 60 foot times. My main reason for all this work was to make the car safe. Good chance I have put on a few pounds with the added steel. All the events are bracket races so it doesn't have to be the quickest just consistent and the driver needs to be on point.

Another big swing of the axe today. All seat belt mounts in except the crotch belt. Passenger floor brace and floor pan welded in. Was a little warm in the blue sky garage today. Time to watch NASCAR and have a few beers to cool down. 20250913_134046.jpg

I heard some thunder so went it to check the radar and it wasn't looking good. So rounded up the tools and moved the welder inside. Then scrambled and got the quarter glass back in to protect the cars inside. When I get this done I need to make a big push to get my carport up.

Couple more holes to patch then I can put the carpet back in and mount the shifter and seat.

It's all looking good, I opted for a white open face helmet too and switched from red belts to black. Funny how you get tied up thinking about all that kind of stuff, you'd think that would be the simple stuff after building a car. Lol
