I remember watching the Brady Bunch (the TV sitcom not the Patriots) and Mr. Brady (the dad, not Tom) always had a rag top Mopar in the drive. Mrs. drove a Mopar wagon I think. I remember one episode where Greg took a date to the drive-in and for some reason brought his little brother along, it started raining and the younger opened an umbrella while Greg was raising the top. Calamity followed.

Perry Mason was a rag-top man as well. Caddy's, bullet and square birds. Paul liked the Vettes and baby birds. Della got the grocery-getters but they were still new and nice for a secretary special.

TV shows and movies were all about product placement. They taught us what to do for a living by the car you were rewarded with. Courtroom Attorney? Cadillac Convertible. Crappy architect that designed a house for 9 people to live in with one bathroom and no garage? 340 Plymouth.

Remember when the big three sponsored pretty much all the popular TV shows. Ponderosa sponsored by Chevrolet, the FBI sponsored by Ford Motor Company the car commercial's were part of the draw to watch. Joe Mannix drove a 1967 Oldsmobile Tornado, Cannon drove the Mark IV with a telephone big stuff back in the day. Joe

    Hello,

In a way, the weather pattern attacks the west coast as the systems move in from the ocean. This time, the ocean brings in a weather front. But as it shows for this coming week, hot and hotter. A couple of days of heat for just about everyone in So Cal. Well, it is 76 in Laguna Beach and that is “warm to hot” for August. The coast starts off with a thick layer of fog that goes about a mile inland. Then by 9:00 a.m. the heat barrier pattern starts its move. Now, it is a fight to see who is stronger, the thick fog or the oppressive heat.

So far, the fog lasts until around 10-11 am. After that, the heat wall is pushing and has pushed the fog back into the ocean where it is about a 5 mile distance from the shore. By the afternoon, it is about 10 miles out. But, by sunset and after dinner, the fog has waited all day to come back to shore and fill up the canyons and hillsides so thick one cannot see their neighbors… that might be a good thing. Ha!

Even if the heat persists into the night hours, it is fun to see if the thick fog is making its way inland. So far, it goes about a mile inland and then it is warm to hot. The coastal folks get their thick fog all night until the heat wave starts its push all over again.

We have seen this battle for over 60 years. We would take off from our Long Beach house in thick fog and by the time we arrive at Camp Pendleton, it is still thick fog. As we walk into the surf beach area, creepy fog and the tall bushes makes for a weird sensation. But arriving at the shoreline, it is breaking well, as we can hear the waves, but we can barely see it. Paddling out is also creepy, as we can’t see the bottom or who or what is under us.

But, our apprehension is rewarded with 5-6 foot almost perfection waves and no one out… Yikes and Yippee!

    Note:

This is not the first time we have seen the yellow Camaro convertible in our local coastal area. It is easy to spot coming towards us in traffic or heading in the same direction. The odd thing for convertibles is most keep the top up and A/C on during road trips. In the late summer and into fall, the top usually comes down as it gets cooler and the glaring sun is not so bad. But, then again, the Camaro has the top up as the owner might be inside one of the fitness store/workout places. YRMV

I saw this chevy this morning. 4x4, 72? K5 Blazer. I like these things, it fits the discussion yeah? Technically a convertible. Definitely OT. SBC, like 90% of the cars on the HAMB. Cool looking. Checks all the boxes. @Taboo56Chevy blue. What's not to like?

Your thoughts on these rigs? Yea or nay?

I've always loved the 62 Dodges and Plymouths, but most consider them on the ugly side. That is a beautiful build.

Heartbreaking for the owner. Bent that rotisserie like it was plastic. On a side note I increased my values at Hagerty this week on everything. Heaven forbid.

That is heartbreaking. Good note on the Hagerty values, I need to review mine.

With the chili cheese or just mustard? I took some parts off a wreck at the yard one day that was definitely driven by a chili cheese dogger. Ick

I added $77k to my cars (in total) for just over $600 a year. I retained "Cherrished Value" that gives me the agreed upon value AND full salvage rights to my cars. No appraisals, no underwriting, just a phone call and done. I hope I will never use it. The best way to be sure of that is to be prepared for the worse. It's like wearing clean underwear, I put them on every day, no issues.

Interesting comment on Cherished value, I will check for that.

The way she explained it to me, if someone ass ended my roadster bad enough to total it, I would get the agreed upon value and the car. I said ass ended because it would leave me my blown flathead, chrome front suspension, tires/wheels, maybe the QC, interior, tons of chrome, grille, and hard goods. $50-60k? Easy!

If it burns, nada. Let's not dwell on that. My engines in my rigs are high dollar, I don't want to lose them. It is great coverage. Great idea...I hope. It isn't expensive if it doesn't pan out. Ask for it and tell me what you think.

Will do and thanks for the update. I have a some expensive trim (NOS when installed), expensive parts and engine builds along with restored interior etc. Good advice.
