I was 16 at that show. I got to drive my dad's chopped 51 Merc around. I remember 95 percent of those cars.

I was at the 81 show in Wichita and everyone received a grab bag with "stuff". I grabbed an ink pen and got Darryl Starbird's autograph. Over the years the same pen was used to collect Gene Winfield's, Joe Bailon's and George Barris's. I called it my Darryl Starbird's superflake moonbird pen. My ****ing mom threw it away. Ugh...

This car was at the 83 show. For some reason I didn`t take a picture of it. Always liked it. 20 years later I was able to get a picture of it at a KKOA show in Ohio. Scan0597.jpg

Jim, do you know any history with this '53 Chevy? I guy name Dallas brought it one year to the SK500 and I loved the lay out. I didn't realize it was together in '83. One of the best that I've ever seen.

Anyone know who owned the flamed Merc with the Missouri plate "LO MERC"? I saw several pics of it in this thread. I have a vague memory of getting a ride in that car, and my dad knew the owner but the name escapes me. I do remember thinking it was really cool to ride in a custom Merc!

@Dan Hay In the Street Rodder Magazine coverage that @rudestude posted the caption says "Jim and Sue Grinlinton's '49 from Independence, Missouri".

Bob Keith's '39 Ford was pretty fresh there... Awesome car. I ran with him a lot with L.L.K. in the '80's

  16. Every time I see a picture of Blaine's awesome Merc, I get a real feeling of sadness. He was such a nice guy--a true custom legend, and KKOA royalty. He is missed..........E

This is Custom Jim Ebenhoh’s 1960 Impala. He built my new chopped Mercury that is parked next to him in the pic. IMG_6198.jpeg
Jim won Koolest Kustom Kemp for the Chevy.
