One brother & I each have one of those spaceship-globe banks. Kinda cool launching pennies/nickels/dimes(don't remember if quarters fit) into the globe. gave mine to my youngest brother... 1st time I've seen a pic of another one. :) .

This is a 50's (I think) French fair ground ride rocket that I have spent ages trying to get spray can paint off to get it back to the gold metal flake original paint underneath. It still needs a lot of work but will be worth it when done hopefully. Been using oven cleaner at oil and grease remover with scotchbrite and wet&dry paper. P1120254.JPG

this thread might be as good of a place to ask as any . . . .

watching "Strange Angel" series on Amazon.

episode #1 @ 42:44 shows these guys cruising in a late '30s pickup. it has 'barrelnose' style elements but i don't think it's a '37. anyway, they are tuning a radio in the cab. it says Delco on it and appears to be football shaped, with a long stalk coming from the top right which is being used to fine tune the broadcast or volume. i think it's mounted to the steering column, where in 20 years, will be mounted a tachometer!

anyone know more about this? thanks

Well finished the French 1950's fair ground ride rocket ship yesterday, made the stand for it and got all the lights working also put a couple of old aircraft gauges in it that I picked up at a swap meet for 5 bucks each. i expected to see "Jocko" emblazoned across the cowl

there's a video out there with his excellence landing and starting his show but i couldn't find it. it was swathed in tin foil and dropped onto the stage by not so hidden cables.

Damn man, be careful where you point those.

My blurry memory as a kid remembers something similar, made in pressed tin. The trigger would spin up a small flywheel, and sparks would shoot out about 1”. Kinda like the guts of a BIC lighter. I remember cycling the trigger until the little flywheel maxed out on speed.

Remember a mate who had a late 70’s robot, battery operated which would say “Crush, kill, destrooooooooy”. Probably not PC anymore

    cheers,
    Harv
