Wheel smith makes 40’ford style wheels in all the sizes you could want. Got mine via speedway

    Thanks Tim.

Were you able to get your wheels in a short period of time?

Yeah granted it’s been a couple years but they had them in stock. I bet I had them in about 30 hours.

only thing of note is if you are using drake re pop or stock hub caps they are a little tight. Which I think is fine on a painted wheel but on the chrome ones I think it’s too tight.

Wheel smith makes there own caps for them that are slightly smaller to fit there wheels better. They look exactly like all the other repop caps. I’m sure they also fit the stock ford wheels but would be a hair lose.

I haven't heard any complaints about the wheels.

    Bob,
It’s been a long road, but the wait is well worth it!!!!!!!! Don’t look now, IMG_0784.png but there’s a blue/white 57 Mopar angling for that C-Channelled rear bumper. ;).

  23. I have never had a fibergl*** car. Does engine heat, or heat from the sun, make the interior smell like fibergl***, or is there a way to insulate the body so you do not smell it? This is such a cool build and makes it easy to drive every day, so if you do get into a small accident, you can easily fix it and not feel bad about a steel car getting damaged. Please keep the updates coming.

Hi HRR, I have both steel & gl*** cars, Depending on what one does to prevent heat intrusion on both steel & gl*** cars I’m sure that’s a good question. I know that I don’t have enough heat deflecting material in my steel or gl*** cars, but I do have cowl vents in most of them.
I have had a 30 Wescott bodied RPU, a Paul’s Fibergl*** chopped 34 Coupe and have had a Wescott 34 Roadster body on a P-Wood ch***is that I started when working for a Rod shop in 1986. Not one them ever smelled of curing resin as that what actually permeates the aroma.
I have yet to have destroyed a gl*** car, but I have seen several get damaged in “squirrel moves” (1 wrecked 3 different times with different drivers) that warranted complete panel removal & replacement which was far less expensive than if it had been a steel car.

The build going on here presently has been inspiring similar to the original subject Hot Rod. Looking forward to the end result. IMG_2162.png

Even the fibergl*** smell from this car had dissipated in a matter of months from sitting in the shop as I wrapped up other projects. In the completed fibergl*** cars I have been a part of, none have retained the smell from the ****pit regardless of the temperature. It's really no difference that the smell of a new pair of shoes or the "new car" smell

  26. Exactly what I wanted to hear. I think this thread is awesome that you can build the hot rod of your dreams as a driver, and if it gets in an accident, you don't feel so bad as a steel car. Granted, this much work you don't want an accident, but you all get the idea.

Don’t forget…Hot Rod Ron lives in Arizona (surface of the sun hot), but in the Midwest, the smell seems to go way quite soon.
