That is both, a great build and first race experience! Sorry you had that door mishap, but from here it looks like you´ve got the perfect skill set to fix it. Beautiful car btw!

The trunk lid removed itself the first run! There is a drop in the dunes along the beach and a crosswind hits at that point if the wind is in that direction which is the same point the door was unlatched. both the doors and the trunklid are un reinforced fibregl*** and extremely flexible. Hence why when the body was on its previous race car they were purely cosmetic and glued shut. But it is in our plans this winter to install new doors with full inners to add some rigidity to them and convert over to bearclaw latches. the perils of a belly pan, it stops most of the air getting in, but whatever air does get in then wants to get out too! And finds the quickest way!
Small update, currently in the throws of moving workshops so most is halted but we’ve got big plan’s and some updates a foot ready for the next beach race But a super cool thing happened, with lots of Tom Cobb chatter on here now there is even more, a while back Joe sent us over a good luck charm in the shape of the original shifter Tom ran in his time with the Pierson coupe! To have something from the car that inspired this whole thing for me all them years back is honestly such a killer thing. And to be something tactile like that shifter complete with what’s believed to be the original shift knob. It’s great to have it be back in a race car and not sat on a shelf! Now we need another transmission AGAIN!
With your transmission experience, you should consider starting your own repair business specializing in those.
We dont have so much progress on this that can be photographed just yet but plans are afoot for this years race with a bit of a change. I will get back on the updates in the coming months in the mean time I’ve just got another project on the road that I had on the sidelines. A pre war styled 34 roadster, Gl*** body again and stock running gear so far it’s been lots of fun.
I was impressed with the coupe at Pendine. I never saw this thread until now. Only a few weeks until the next Pendine. I drove the "Lowflyers" version 37 years ago when it was owned by Tony Cardy. I took my now wife out for a spin in it.
I did not see your lakes coupe in this Pendine video. Was it not ready or did you expect the meet would be rained out, as it apparently was? There appear to be lots of interesting vehicles though.
We didn’t make it this year, been abit hectic this end I moved into a new shop for my work so been busy with that, but we are still working away at it. With the upgrades/cl*** change we’ve undertaken on the car, a new motor has been built along with a re configuration of pretty much everything else on the car. But it should be fun.
Love explanation of all those parts. Guess: New ( bigger? ) blower & drive. Can not see distributor drive? Water pump front of blower. One water pipe under blower to US driver side to back of engine where up & splits to two heads. Feed to water pump from? Nice build!
