My 29,It`s going to stay a Banger for now ,while I concentrate on my 40 pickup. I have plans to do a 36 axle, reversed spring and a T spring out back. It has 35 wheels,600 :16 and 750:16 Firestones on the rear.

As time moves on from the early 1958-60 hot rod/drag race days, my brother and I havc always liked street legal hot rods. So, most of our interests were the hot rods we would see on the streets of Long Beach, then on a Saturday, see them racing at Lion’s Dragstrip with their headers or cut out pipes open for more power and fun.

When the Jim C***ady/Junior Thompson’s Street Roadster was on the early drag racing scene, we were able to see the lightweight body powered by the big Hemi at Lion’s Dragstrip. In the pits, up close, it was impressive as the big Hemi filled the motor compartment and was bulging out of both sides. (remember, these roadsters were cl***ified as street legal and they had to conform to DMV standards)

Some alterations and additions are a little sketchy, but, all street legal, however they were interpreted by the tech committees. Legal muffler pipe inside of a collector tube, motorcycle fenders to cover or try to cover the tires/slicks and headlights/brake lights were also required. This was, after all, a legal street roadster.

It was one powerful. street legal roadster, but it would have been hard pressed to drive it to our daily high school and the usual teenage hangouts every weekend. But, it was registered as a street legal roadster for compe***ion and met the DMV rules for such a hot rod. YRMV
