Projects 53 Chevy Bel Air "Cleetus" mild custom daily driver

Well going to give this a try. Google says zinc is high enough. And thanks to a shipping error I was able to get a case of six quarts free. And they said if I like it they said they'd give me a few more cases. Thicker than I normally like but despite low mileage my engine has a good bit of blowby

 

Well my junker seemed to like the free oil. So I'm off to get more free oil lol

 

Six oil changes worth on top of the oil I just changed. Should be good for awhile lol

So when I painted my trunk a couple weeks ago one big bug got into the top layer of paint when it was mostly dry but not hardened. Wetsanded it out today. One lil bit of burn through but I'll touch that up after it's been thoroughly washed. Going to clear coat the trunk after the paint gasses anyway

 

That came out pretty decent

 

Yeah the camera actually makes the burn through and remaining bug indention more noticable than in actual person. I figure after clear it'll be invisible

 

Finally got the near mint front splash pan on that I fixed and painted a few months ago. Hard to take pics of it but it definitely cleaned things up. My old one looked passable but in reality was trashed

 

Hopefully if I can get insurance fast enough tomorrow will be the first time I drive this junker on the street

 

Since it will likely hit the road in next couple days I went ahead and threw the caps and exhaust baffles back on

Well after determining that with the blow by situation all pcv did was make it smoke I threw the old finned valve covers back on. Also dug out a smaller battery that didn't overhang the tray. Still gotta dig out the breather cap

 

Kinda happy about this. Also as this car hasn't been driven since 1973 in Arkansas I'm pretty sure this is the first time it's ever been insured

 

So, now it´s time for a road trip!
