I'm WAY too lazy to sift through the bazillion posts that come up when I search under things like "Roach Rod" or "salt" or whatever. Anyhow have that pic handy of SamIyam sliding sideways on the salt? You know the one, the peace sign and '**** tail both flying in the wind. I lost it when my old computer died..... Thanks.
Here you go Richie! As a little background on these pics... I was on the Ego Rama doing the photo shoot with Dan Khan (Scribe on the HAMB) So we drive out to the middle of the El Mirage lake bed. After he took a bunch of pics of the car just sitting there, he said he wanted some of it driving around. So I told him to stand in one spot, and I'd do donuts around him... I said "Give me a thumbs up and I'll put it sideways! So, I drove in circles around him, he gave me the thumbs up, and I put her sideways! That was the first pic... when I was done doind donuts around him, the car finally came around, so I threw him the peace sign... he was still pointing the camera at me, so I kept on the throttle. Dan was a trooper... as I was heading towards him at that point, he kinda shifted direction to get out of the way... AND KEPT SHOOTING! Hahahha!! It was a blast! The night before the Ego Rama... We met at Don Dillard's shop and Cal Tanaka wanted a ride... he was prettty sauced, so I said SURE! HOP IN!! Thanks Sam!! I've been really bummed out that I lost that picture....it was my backround for what? Years!?!?! Man...I love that donut clip too.....that's something else I lost but didn't really want to ask & sound greedy. Thanks again Sam!
Can you just do that? I've never been out to the lakes, and my dad and I have been kicking around a trip to LARS in 07, and he just mentioned on the phone the other nite that he wondered what it would take to go out there and cut a few donuts ourselves. Do you have to get military clearance, pay admission, or pretend to work for Primedia, or what? And thanks for posting the pics and vid again. I'll never get tired of seeing those!

I was just out there a few weeks ago, yes you can just drive out there, mostly kite flyers and those sail bike/car thingys
It's only been twenty years. Anyone know where the customized 2x2 manifold is? Nevermind, just read Sam got it back a couple years ago. Glad to see it home.
