We left Sat evening. As it turned out, today was bright and sunny I should have went back, but I had other stuff to do. I watched a bit of the show on their YT channel last night. I/m sure most everyone enjoyed the show. I sure did.

It was a fun event in the pits and on the track. I got to pair up with my good friend tooth and his 62. He should always put me on the trailer with his car and I'm good with that it was more of a photo and video opportunity :)

The guy with the gray Buick I was paired with in this last video was pitted next to us. He was having trouble starting his car as I heard him doing a bunch of cranking. I walked over to his trailer to see if I could lend a hand. He was looking at the carburetor and fuel pressure. He was having problems not squirting fuel in the front of the carburetor. Within half a min I see the front accelerator pump lever has fallen off the float bowl. I feel I did my duty to help a fellow racer for the weekend.

Have you heard about a 348/409 shoot out at Tri States Raceway in Iowa on Oct 4? Going?

Yes I know about the event. I have it on the calendar. This car will need some repair before it goes back on track and I would need to figure out a way to get it pulled up there. My tow rig is not long road worthy right now.
I would truly like to make the evet to catch up with good friends again.
The problem that came up at the track is the left rear spring has collapse and with the low ride height of the car I have loss the pinion angle and now have a vibration in the driveshaft. Not that big of a job but life and a hobby makes it a balancing act to get everything in order. Family first hobby second.

I watched a video earlier of a car doing a wheelie, when it came down the right front coil spring came out !
    It was pretty crazy.

Something I have always wanted to do to this car was build a poor mans cowl induction. I had started on this with the factory 882 intake but now with the McQuillen intake the carburetors are spaced farther apart and also at different heights. So with a little work I can salvage what I started. I will now jack up the back of the hood and use some foam to seal it to the bottom of the hood. In the past I have done this on two different cars and both picked up .300 in ET.
Let's hope it does the same for this car.

Little more progress on the poor man's cowl induction system.

It was good to see you again Salty
You got the Shaker running Dam well after a 7-year hibernation, considering the week before this event you were still welding in the floor and back seat area around the new cage.
Not many people I know, can pull that off so well ;)

I need to give the hood hinges a little more adjustment front to back.
All the dust under the hood is from the route we took back that had us on 4 miles of gravel road. The car was covered with dust then ran through a thunder storm that washed it off on the outside. Trailer still has gravel on lt.

Norb it was good to meet up again, shame it is so long time. Meltdown is coming up next year so that sound like a good chance to hook up again.

Got the springs installed and the boxed in lower control arms. The passenger side picture is without the replacement spring at this point. 20250929_170108.jpg

I know you only have a few runs on the car since you been working on it, but did the 60 foot times change with all added bracing?

The 60 foot is .100 slower than it was 7 years ago. I do have different rear tires so not sure if that is the problem or not. The car does appear to be reacting different as I was red lighting a lot. Now some of this could be that it has been 7 years since I have been in the drivers seat. I do need to check the dwell and timing and maybe a new set of sparkplugs. I do have a race this weekend so maybe I can get more comfortable and be able to pick up on any improvements or defects.

But 3 out of 5 passes may be a little excessive.

So today I have been cutting the bottom out of the driveshaft tunnel. Ever since I went to the one piece driveshaft I would have to disconnect the driveshaft to rise the car on the lift and let's say that just isn't very convenient. After I clean up my bugger torque job I will fab some loops to bridge across to opening to give it some support.
