That's the only way i've ever done those rear springs.
I stack them, stick a long screwdriver through the center bolt, and squeeze them with a pair of c-clamps.
Pull the screwdriver and install the center bolt.
    I'm always afraid stretching it.

Got the car back on the ground.
Forgot to measure the height before the spring swap, not sure if I got that big of a drop.
Oh well, it might settle a bit over time.
And I need to clean up the threads on of the U-bolts holding the spring to get the last castle nut on, anyone know what thread size the U-bolts have?

Then I decided to do something rewarding so I brush painted the whole rear part of the body.
Paint is still wet in the pictures so it will dull down a bit when dry.

It's old and crusty but it looks cool I think.

    More painting done today.
Firewall and the inside of the cowl left to paint but it's getting there.

One of these days I'm gonna have to push it outside to have a look at it from a bit of a distance.

    NICE!!
I like it in red, but black is classic, always works.
My first thought when i se it now is to take a fine (only know this word in swedish) slipnylon and buff it down, and in some places take it down to the red primer.

This is turning out so well. I really like it. Those springs can be a bear.
