Dug out this 34 chevy the other day. Took a few hours, but for free, what the heck? Other than the bottom of the doors, it wasn't too bad for being buried for 50+ years.
I gotta be livin in the wrong part of the country. Anything around here sittin for more than 2 days turns to junk
Well thats even a better deal then my $150 moordoor! Hope you get yours rolling long before I do, mines still buried at the back of an old junkyard....
Right now-plans are to start on it in the spring. We are headed out for a 34 Dodge sedan we found down a hill next. It's in a little better shape, but about 200 feet down, so we need to get creative. But, the challenge makes it worth it.
I love these kind of finds! I'm jelous of you guys in the drier climates who find these. They always seem to be nice. My area's like Rich Rogers said...anything that old isn't worth digging up. Just take what you see above ground, as there's nothing left worth saving below! I always wonder how some of the stuff ends up where it does, especially just a body. Was it dumped, or driven in and someone grabbed the ch***is?
It was stacked up with some other cars to keep the creek from washing out. Pretty common around here.
Similar deal with my '33 5w Chevy...it had been setting by my Great Grandfather's old homestead site for 50 yrs or so. Very little rust, only one bullet hole, but I had to pay $100..haha. Hey, I bought a set of doors for my coupe, but it turns out they are about an inch too long, so we think they are for a sedan and would fit your car. Do you need a drivers door? (I need a p***enger door so bad that I think I'm going to cut the sedan door down to fit). Gary
Damn! Saw this thread and my first thought was-"Jimmy Hoffa?" Nice car, but kind of a letdown, ya know.
You guys out west make me sick. The dirt around here is like acid. It'll eat a car up in no time. Nothing survives below the surface. If you find one half buried, you can bet it's not - it's just half gone. JH
Hey next time someone stumbles across something cool like this save yourself the work of digging it up and just tell me where it is. Ill give you a ride when its done and be eternally grateful. In fact that Dodge sounds like way too much work to dig out, dont bother, youve got a cool Chevy already.....
what no bullet holes? was this in town or in a school yard -golf course? hope you replaced your divit check around they may be rooted in clumps..
Nice find; I was 15 when dad asked if I wanted a car to work on. Dumb question!! Out in the field/swamp was a 28 tudor with 1949 plates on it. still had air in 2 tires. This was 1961. Spent 4 years rodding it and itwas the beginning of a lifetime love of old iron.
