    Hi all!
I'm writing an article for the Swedish-made magazine "American Trails" about Ed Roth/Rat Fink/Low Brow Art, and I'm looking to get in touch with Ed "Newt" Newton. Posting here is kind of a long shot, but I'm sure someone here knows him. We would love to have some of his art in the article, and also a short quote.

Throwing in a quick n' dirty sketch that I did recently. 33_retusch.jpg

Good luck, how about posting a link to get the “American Trails” magazine?

    Thanks

  4. Howdy FAS-T folk. The '50 Mercury was entered in the Gene Winfield tribute FFAFF model car build- off. Which was a
    lil' unfair as I started on it in 2007 when I opened the kit box and found it a lil' boring. So I cut it up. 250929PlyCranbrk.jpg 250811FEutechop.jpg 250811AP5wag.jpg 250818FFAFF1.jpg 250818FFAFF2.jpg 250819FFAFF2.jpg 250816FFAFF1.jpg 250816FFAFF2.jpg 250816FFAFF3.jpg 250816FFAFF4.jpg

    Hi Dan!
Here's the link. I would love to spread it in this gruop, but it's not a car magazine, more of "people, places and passions" as our payoff says. It's very nice and we've won multiple prizes for the design (and content). Please go ahead and flip through the latest issue. We have subscribers world wide.

You have a very nice magazine! I think it is somewhat car related as the articles are about people, places and things to see here in US. Road trip stuff in my opinion.
As far as Roth stuff goes you may talk to @Moriarity , Mark is a walking encyclopedia on this stuff.

    Thanks Dan!
Yeah, the magazine is very much a "Road Trip" –style magazine, and the editor want more classic cars/Customs/Rods in it, but it won't be in-depth about the cars, more about the people. Still: There's alot of great stories about people and places. And I have a bunch of passionate people that I want to visit and write about when I get back to the US eventually.
I'll try to get in touch with Moriarity. Thanks for the tip! Really appreciated!

My dad and his buddy crashed a J3 Cub many years ago flying a search and rescue mission for the Minnesota Civil Air Patrol.
They got lost in poor vis and ran out of fuel.
They did a forced landing in a farmer's field and flipped the plane upside down. Most of the damage was done when the farmer ran up the wing to see if they were ok.

Happy (FAS) to all of you!
Thanks to @jeepster for that piece with the "Skelly" (S) High Test gas pump in it. The (YER NUTZ) on the wrench was cool as well!
It was this weeks inspiration for digging through my files.

    Hello,

When we played inside of the old 1949 Chevy 4 door as little kids, we did not know then that the style would last three more years. But, at the time, it was our pretend portion of our playtime, while our parents were doing their family visits. The kids had to play somewhere.
    upload_2025-10-10_3-25-22.png
Later on, when I was able to start the filming of various things, I took this short, while our moms were going out for lunch and shopping... as usual.

At the time, when we were a lot younger, it was lots of time behind the wheel in the driveway, pretending to drive it to the beach, mountains, the lakes and to friend’s houses. Scooting up with the seats, barely able to reach the pedals, but able to shift the transmission. The road trips were endless, until one of our parents came out and told all of us kids to get out of that Chevy and go play in the backyard. Ha!

It was a main work vehicle and without it, income would not come into the family. So, we all ran to the backyard to play something else. Little did we know but, those minutes that led to hours inside of the 49 Chevy sedan, were the steps for our teenage journeys about to start in about 5 years.

Jump up many years and the artwork got started as to that old 49 Chevy 4 door sedan and as one color was used, it got put away in the the old folder for another day. As we got influenced by more styles of hot rods and cruisers, the artwork came out, but after a few changes, got put away again, as it did not look like what we saw on the streets. No cameras as yet and so, our memories were sharp, but with so much going through daily, custom cars and hot rods were pushed to the back cloudy areas. Ha!

As I read @Baumi and his new project brought up the old Chevy 4 door sedan to the forefront. The old Chevy 4 door sedan got put on the front burner and now, the design took off on another aspect. Our cousins had a moved from a 4 door Chevy sedan to a 56 Chevy 4 door hardtop sedan.
    upload_2025-10-10_3-29-26.png
So, with that in mind, a new direction turned into a new custom 49-52 Chevy 4 door sedan. A 4 door post model to a hardtop 4 door model… such possibilities increases the overall design to the next level. But, still a 40-52 Chevy 4 door sedan.

    Jnaki

As much as I like station wagons, I had to increase the hardtop design to include a custom station wagon with center opening rear doors to make the grand entrance/exit, a wide open space for all riders… YRMV
