Got all the fab work done. I may have a day and a half to take it easy before I load up and head north for the 348 409 shootout.

Bit by bit loosing weight. Still have a heater box that needs to go. I'm with some more looking around there has to be a pond or two that don't need to be along for the ride.

Well list has been checked, now need to load up and relax. Heading out in the morning.
If any of you are in the Tristate raceway area stop by and say high. We'll be having a 348 409 shootout on Saturday.

Sure had a great weekend, the car was consistent driver not so much. I did get lucky when it counted though.

To my surprise the cowl induction made no difference on this combination.

Got taken out by this one in second round.

Still need to figure out where my E.T. has gone.
Thinking that the 10.5 wide tires may be to much for the car. I'm going switch back to the 9 inch and see if I can make a test and tune before the season is over.

    By the way.......
I bought my first car in 1969 while in high school, was a 61 Impala, 348/3 speed.
Didn't have it long (found a 57 BelAir), but the dad of a school pal up the street had a maroon 63 SS convertible, 409/4 speed, black interior, black top.
I have had a soft spot for W motor cars ever since.

My first X frame car was a 63SS 327 power glide car. It was a very nice street car and back then never thought of racing one of these cars. This group of 348 409 racers are a great bunch of guys and gal's and always a blast to spend a weekend with. I'm hoping to find a NSS series that I can run with when I get this car finished.

I've never looked into the history but have often wondered what led GM to design those chassis' the way they did, also, why two piece drivelines.

Not real sure what they were thinking. My 63 was a very nice driving car when I put some radial tire on it.

Same here, I bought a 63 Impala SS with 300 HP 327 4 speed that I modified a little bit :D I got a rochester FI off of a 57 that a used car dealer wanted to replace it with a 2 bbl intake carb and distributor that I traded for the FI :D

Years ago I owned this 64 Impala Sport Coupe, 327/250 hp/3 speed on the column, as per my usual, I swapped a Muncie in it, not a powerhouse but sure was fun rowing the gears.

Got a date set for November 2nd at Mo Kan for a test and tune. Think I will work on the driver not the car. Maybe change out the rear tires but try and keep it just one thing at a time.

Smart move. When more than one thing gets changed there's no way of knowing what helped or hurt performance. You obviously know this though.
