I can't decide if it's cool or really sad. All that creativity and money to create something that has already been done-for a movie.
It is making money drawing in crowds at events, perhaps raising money for charity too. I've never seen them up, close and personal but if they were brought to an event this way I'd take a look. They are well represented here I know... I wonder how authentic they are...The Merc looks a little better than what I remember...I know Hamber @Nicholas Coe here had one that was near as nice as the original. The Coupe looks to have a Man A Fre...I don't know how it's spelled... Discs up Front and Radials...for all I know that may still be authentic and was swapped with period footage to date it when required https://youtube.com/shorts/w55uvnDmFF4?si=mmu9yWhCuL4lFRLj
Bitchin'! To those that complain that it's not every original car in as filmed or restored condition, when were they all together and in that state? Enjoy that someone gathered these together and is sharing them. That's a lot of time, energy and effort even to replicate, then to transport and maintain. I appreciate this a lot more than some one-off hyper-car roadster with no windshield parked in Monte Carlo. Heck, they even have a Vespa in front of the 2CV and the trash can!
One of the local car clubs is having a cruise in at the Moonlite Drive-In Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia this weekend. After the cruise in and car show they are going to show American Graffiti and Rebel Without A Cause. These cars may be headed there for the event. https://www.moonliteabingdon.com/events-showtimes
On Most all these reproduction movie cars, they always miss the tires. These would have all had bias plies on it and in the pictures they have ugly radials. Not like they're driving these cars anywhere.
On these they missed alot more than the tires. In this video, the owner talks about the other differences back when he had 5 of the cars:
These 1:64 scale cars were on display in Pueblo, Co in June. The 1:1 cars were cool to see in one place.
I believe the guy who owns and hires them out for display lives in Texas. For a fairly subatantual fee he will send them to your event for display.
they should display the cop car with the back half sitting on the frame and the rear axle chained to a telephone pole
