YES...we are definitely having a 6th Annual Midwest Forty Ford Gathering. The dates are September 26-27. Apparently on the FB page I set up, we are having a Friday Evening Ice Cream Gathering at Andy's Frozen Custard, 2726 S Campbell Ave, Springfield, MO 65807 Saturday, meet in Chesterfield Village at 9am and head to the Crane City Park. Most folks will be staying at Quality Inn & Suites Chesterfield Village 3930 S Overland Ave, Springfield, MO 65807 Artwork is here! If you want a shirt, here's the order form. This is the color shirt I am planning on ordering. Sorry for the price tag, but I am doing the Comfort Colors Heavyweight Tees with 100% ring spun US cotton. They are nice and comfy! Any questions, feel free to reach out to me Bret Chrismer bret@chrismer.net
I have updated the opening post with the artwork, the color of the T-shirts for this year, and a link on how to order the shirts. For sake of ease, however, here's the link to order so you don't have to scroll up. <snip> If you want a shirt, here's the order form. <end snip>
BTW...B-Scott didn't realize the color on the hoodless coupe looked so 90's Street Rod. It's going to be more closer to a Ford Blue on the t-shirts. Also, when B-Scott and I were talking about the 3rd Annual Midwest Forty Ford Gathering artwork, the one with the yellow '40 convertible, I had told him that someday, I would love to do a '40 convertible with a Standard hood and grille, paint it Wheatland Yellow, like Don Ward's deuce roadster (a.k.a. the original Kessler roadster), with a black top, upholstery, and a black top boot. I am pretty sure that is why he put a standard hood and grille on the 'vert without me asking for it. LOL
Today is the day some of the early birds show up! Yesterday, the t-shirts arrived at my house. Today I plan on spending time sorting the "needs shipped" from the "needs to be distributed at the event" shirts, so I don't sell any of my "needs shipped" shirts! I made a run down to the City of Crane this morning to pay up the park registration. I never remember to mail a check, so I gave their public works money to pay for what I forgot to send them last year, this year's fee, and 2026 and 2027! I also stopped by the restaurant up the street where everybody tends to go for lunch. It changed hands last November, and is now known as Festus Jack's. I gave them a forewarning that we would be invading them on Saturday. She told me their menu is on their FB page. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61569127319956 Their lunch special, for Saturday, is Chicken Fried Steak with gravy, mashed potato, and a veggie. (they are open for breakfast and lunch) I also talked to the young lady with a coffee trailer that is parked next to the park, and she said she would be there on Saturday until around 3pm. Looking forward to seeing you all!
Regarding the ice cream get together tonight, the folks staying at the hotel will be leaving around 6:45 to head to Andy's Frozen Custard, 2726 S Campbell Ave, Springfield, MO 65807 If you want to meet us there, we'll be there by 7pm.
Friday, Lyle took us on a tour of Crocodile's Corner Service, his newly acquired retired gas station in the bustling metropolis of Lockwood, MO. After the tour, we walked across the railroad tracks and had a fantastic lunch. Dale and Laura Caulfield, Lyle, Jonny, and me. One day last week, I had gotten a call from Darrel Hoyer, from South Dakota, asking if it was OK if he dropped into the Midwest Forty Gathering, since he hadn't registered. I triple dog dared him, just so he couldn't refuse, and his '40 standard business coupe did NOT disappoint. My understanding is that it was an original paint car with a pre '58 SBC under the hood. I saw him showing folks what was under there, but I didn't get over to take a peek for myself. What I really loved was the stock style pattern of the upholstery. (I had mine done like that, too) Sunday, after all my Forty Friends were gone, I went out to Butch's house, where he had diagnosed and fixed the knock I was having in the 283. Turned out that I apparently snipped a wire end off of something and it found it's way into the number 2 cylinder. After getting some lights wired up and lopping out 14" of exhaust pipe that interfered with the clutch pedal, I proceeded to drive the car about 19-20 miles back to the house. The engine ran great, however, having exhaust dumping right below my feet, it sounded like crap! (it did sound good before I cut out that section) And parked at the house so I could ride back to Butch's and bring the coupe back home.
I went to your link to order shirts. It shows "sold out". IF you come across extras, I'm up for a couple. Thanks
I didn't order many extras this year and I closed ordering after I sent my order to B-Scott. Once I get everything shipped and see what I have left over, I will reload what is left on the website and open it up. B-Scott usually needs a minimum of 2 dozen shirts on re-orders, so I avoid that unless the demand is high enough to make it worthwhile.
Great turn out man. Is there a body style of 40 you havnt owned yet? I can remember you with a truck, coupe, four door, panel, and rag top. What’s that leave? Four door rag top?
I do dig '40 Fords. LOL. Every "car" body that I have owned has been a Deluxe. I would like a '40 Standard of some sort, whether it be a coupe, 2 door sedan, or even another MorDor. I haven't had a sedan delivery, and I do like them, but tend to prefer the more awkward looking panel trucks. And then I would LOVE to have a COE, but I don't know what I would ever do with one. I'd have to buy a farm, I guess, so I can grow '40 Fords.
Staying home this year for everything so I can make a dent in model A progress but it’s been on my radar
