HOLY SH*T!!! That was too close. Brian has unbelievable reaction skills. Sure is good to hear both drivers are safe and no one was injured.
I am editing this post because I just came across this video that was posted today by Brian Lohnes,

  7. We are getting ready for this Sunday at Great lakes Dragway. A full bottom end service was done. The travel on the throttle was shortened up for a quicker sixty foot. It was set up originally with a lot of travel to make it easier to drive on the street. We plan on doing a full quarter mile run. We want to go 200 plus mph.
We are doing some testing on the car as well. The lenco received a gear change. We had a 1:25 low gear in the trans. We feel a 1:34 will improve the sixty foot through three hundred feet. Cars are getting a jump on us and I have to reel them in. We hope this will change that without blowing the tires off. The weather looks good for this time of the year. The forecast is 70 degrees and sunny. The track this time of the year has a golden hour from noon to one pm. If it achieves our goal we are done for the season.

  10. Well no one saw this coming. This time of year in Wisconsin it's getting cool. We had 65 degrees at 1pm. The track is a big factor. The track staff did spray and drag the track for me knowing what we were trying to do. We set the car up soft to not spin the tires. We had only 45 in the mag. There was 85 in the tank. Tires were 7.5. I did a big long burnout. At the hit the tires came up a few inches. It carried the wheels past the tree. Then things got interesting. Instead of touching down the front end came way up. I started to lift and it went higher. I'm a few hundred feet out now and really picking up speed. I had to lift. As I lifted I hit a bump on the track. This made the right rear wheel come off the ground. Good thing I was lifting because it could have taken a hard right turn.
So that was the end of the season. No 200 mph.
The left lower shock mount broke. The left side shock oil reservoir broke. The drag link got a slight bend. No big deal. Parts are already on the way. It's always interesting with a fuel altered.
If you go to my Facebook site under my name is the site with the green car there are a bunch of cool videos posted from the last two events. FB_IMG_1760372059981.jpg FB_IMG_1760372078003.jpg FB_IMG_1760372089485.jpg

Maybe you should rethink adding wheelie bars

  15. This was several hundred feet down track. The videos on Facebook show what happened. Regardless of last Sunday we are on to something.

Brian, now that the 2025 season has come to an end, what are your plans for this Winter, and what are your plans and goals for the 2026 season? Do you have more changes you would like to make to the car? Are you hoping to run the entire Nitro Chaos series again? What are your performance goals for 2026?

  21. Good questions all of them.
The car weighs 2960# with me in it. It's hard to get that much weight moving. It's more critical eighth mile racing.
There are two choices. Add more power to pull the tall gear in my case 3:73 rear 1.34 trans. This will increase maintenance and cost.
The other option is gearing the car for maximum rpm at the finish line. We are going that route. We are not spinning the tires so we will add more gear.
To address the wheelie issue we will add a weight bar to the front of the car. This bar will have a fill cap and drain. It will be filled with lead shot to provide up to 25 lbs. The wheelie bars will go back on as much as I hate them they are needed now
The four link will get the upper rear bars moved down one hole. This will reduce bite and lift.
We have been qualifying mid pack. These changes should make the car leave much harder. We are looking for a time in the 4.10 to 4.20 area.
The other goal is to run all the events again. We want the overall championship. I finished 8th with two dnqs over the reverser issue. If I had just qualified I would have finished 3rd. With a more competitive car I think we might reach our goal.

  22. This was a raceable car a few hours ago. Each weekend something will be addressed. New rods and pistons are on the way. The crank will be sent out to be serviced. The heads will be gone through at the end of the month. New clutches and steels are on order for the lenco. New rings need to be filed. The sleeves need a hone run through them. There's so much work to be done. Doing one or two jobs each weekend is the plan. It should all be back together sometime in January.
