None! Flathead engines have asthma, so they don't need mufflers.

I just switched from Smithys to Porters. Really like the sound of the Porters, but actually run with my lakes pipes open 95% of the time. Even at that I still can't get a warning ticket for loud pipes.

Cast iron black pipe 1-1/4" - 1-1/2" front-to-back assembled with assorted elbows and never-seez. And not just for flatties either.

In the south east area lots of rodders used 52 chevy dump truck mufflers , The outlet had a larger size than the inlet. Also had next to no inside but were stock so the local police would not give you a much shit. My favorite set up was no muffler but flex pipe that ended about the back seat area or exit in front of the rear wheels.. Later came scavenger pipes.

The oldschool rodders in Sweden would say copper pipes with o mufflers, suppose to give it a nice tone.

I'm running 12" Brockman glass packs. They sound great on stock and modified flatheads.

Brockman Mellow tones. Steel is louder than glass packs until the glass burns out. Then their just about like straight pipes.

None!!!! I had smittys on my T modified, The muffler was 2/3 of the whole exhust system(being the car is only 10' 8" long) I ended up taking them off and now run straight pipes.

Anything will sound just fine. But, here's a chance to educate me as to why I need Porter or Smitty mufflers vs the $28 Walker glasspacks I ended up using. Thanx in advanceo_O

I know this thread is over a decade old but someone please explain the use of cast iron pipe for exhaust. I didn’t know this was a thing.

They had to when they started using quadratoilets on intakes.

I tried my flathead with straight pipes, it didn't "do it" for me. Smitty's out the back with 1.75" pipes (stainless, not cast iron).
