So I want to put an interior light in my 39 ford truck. I am looking for some pictures of mounted lights. I don’t know if middle of the roof or above the back window is the best. Thanks
This is in my 41. I chose it because it was the same shape as the rear window and it has its own on/off switch. 47-55 Chevy truck
I mounted a couple of lights under the dash. Their close to the existing wiring and give me plenty of light. (What I need to do now is add a backup light.)
I never considered under the dash but now I am. I was leaning toward putting it above the back window like Bandit Billy now I might do both. My main concern was how well can I see the floor area with the light at the back and how practical is it?
Do both! Courtesy lighting (thats what I call floor lighting), I do it to everything I build, and I add jamb switches. I think it looks cool to open a door and be greeted by illuminated floor wells. In my rag top Olds I sometimes drive with them on at dusk like Don Johnson in Miami Vice. Lookin coooool.
Not sure I like above the back window now. I need to find a light with a switch that will fit in the center of the roof. I won’t have door switches just a finger operated light.
So I ended up mounting a light from a 1998 F150 in the roof. I tried several lights above the window but they did not have the right look and the light reflected off the windshield and made it very hard to see out when the light was on while driving. I have not got a headliner yet but will be getting the ABS style and the light can be used to secure the headliner. Edit to add.. Bonus feature is the map light shines straight into thd glove box. I had some fuses in thd glovebox and needed to get one out. Turned on the p***enger side map light and surprise it lit up the interior of the glove box
